I said the same thing about dating sites in this thread a few months back. Decided to take a look and landed a few hot dates. I didn't spend $$ and I had fun. It's just another avenue to meet the opposite sex.

I know that it's easier said than done, but you need to quit being hung up on your looks as you see them. Even the "best-looking" people in the world can find physical faults in themselves given a half-second.

Focus on the things that you're legitimately good at (physical or otherwise) and find women that appreciate those things. Additionally, stop wasting your efforts on women that you know you won't be compatible with, unless you're genuinely interested in developing platonic relationships with them.

Another thing that's "easier said than done": spend your energy on improving yourself for yourself. That's almost universally more attractive than the results of those efforts are.

I made a profile on a dating site with no picture. Said all the right things in my profile - tall, active, employed etc. I then chose a few goodlooking ladies to message and wrote them a paragraph or 2. My message was polite and asked questions about their profile. Needless to say I got NO responses even though I could see these woman that I have written visited my profile.

A few days later I added a few pictures to my profile and what do ya know, I all of a sudden got messaged back by all 3 that I had messaged. It must be human nature because its all based on looks. I went out with 2 of them and dated 1 for a few months.
