My brother had cancer when he was in HS. The treatment destroyed his thyroid. It doesn't work. He gains a lot of weight when he eats shitty and doesn't exercise. He loses weight when he eats right and exercises. I don't know exactly how the science works with the thyroid, but he is able to manage it.
