Exactly. They don't want him to go #2 to Milwaukee.

Cleveland is taking Embiid or they will trade with Philly and take him at #3. If he falls past that, it's because his agent is steering him to Boston or the Lakers.

I'd prefer the Lakers, as I live in Los Angeles and would love to finally have a reason to root for those bastards.

I watched a lot of games last year. They didn't seem to play as a team until later in the season.

With Embid and Wiggins on the team, why didn't the team perform better this year? What's the general consensus on the under performing last year?

Several things factored in....

1) Point guard play was average for part of the season and sucked for the other part.
2) Team Defense - These guys never bought into the Team Defense concept. Individually, we had some great defenders but as a team....they were below average.
3) Losing Embiid at the end contributed to an average defense turning into a weak one.
4) KU really didnt have a leader on this team. No Jr./Sr. leadership hurt them IMO.....

They never really bought into Self's defense.... the normal stellar defense that leads the nation every other year was 'only' top 25, even with Embiid. Embiid could almost make up for the difference by himself, so of course missing him was huge on both ends. And of course experience matters... KCC posted a turnover margin stat through the years, and it showed the steady decline from 2005-2008, jumps up the next year, declines again, etc. Obvious stat is obvious.

The frustrating thing is I don't know how you 'fix' something like Wiggins' performance in the tournament.... experience would obviously fix it, if that was an option, but it's definitely frustrating watching some young kids on other teams shine after watching that game against Stanford... but, different expectations for different kids, and shit happens.

That’s the nature of young teams, they will start off rough and get better.

However, the “didn’t perform better” is just perception because they didn’t make it to the sweet 16. They played the toughest non-con in recent memory (not just for KU but in the country), and still won the Big 12 by a comfortable margin.

No PG play, Selden banged up and ineffective, Embiid out, Wiggins disappearing in the Stanford game = no sweet 16.
