2014 - Bortles (?)
2013 - (none)
2012 - Luck, Wilson, maybe Foles
2011 - Newton, Dalton
2010 - Bradford
2009 - Stafford
2008 - Ryan, Flacco
2007 - (none)
2006 - Cutler
2005 - Alex Smith, Aaron Rodgers

So in the last 10 drafts we have about 13 guys out of a total of 54 QBs drafted in the first 3 rounds who have stuck around or look like they will be able to stick around as starters.

It's no wonder a third of the league is QB-poor, because history tells us there is usually about 1 guy in each draft who will make it. Injuries or just not being good enough will claim the rest.

It's a sucker bet, but unless you convert one you can't realistically expect to win anything.

Tannehill has mediocrity written all over him. He's the exact type of "franchise QB" that I've always feared. Not terrible enough to try out another quarterback for the next 10 years, but not great enough to provide consistent success.

Kaepernick ---- 60.7% completions, 4.8% TDs, 1.9% Ints, 93.3 passer rating in 32 starts.

Cam Newton -- 59.9% completions, 4.3% TDs, 2.7% Ints, 87.1 passer rating in 53 starts.

Andy Dalton -- 61.1% completions, 4.8% TDs, 2.9% Ints, 86.6 passer rating in 55 starts.

Ryan Tannehill - not worth the bother to post

Kaepernick is the best QB drafted in 2011. He performs the best with the least experience, 20 less starts than the other two.

And that is just stats, not the intangibles.

Biggest comeback victory in the history of the NFC Conference Championship game.

Longest rushing TD by a QB in the super bowl.

Longest run from scrimmage by a QB in a playoff game.

Most rushing yards from scrimmage by a QB in a playoff game.
