This is concerning.

What will he do without the deep ball in his arsenal ?

Steve Young ended his 15 season career with 232 TDs, threw for 8.0 YPA, 64.3% completions, and ran for 5.9 YPC.

Alex Smith, in his 10th season, has managed 113 TDs, throws for 6.6 YPA, completes 60.1% of his passes, and runs for 4.3 YPC (in a passing league).

We can stfu with this Alex = Steve Young bullshit.

If he couldn't have thrown the deep ball in that playoff game against the Colts we could have easily lost by 7 more points !

I don't think Alex Smith is Steve Young... but he could actually get close to those TD numbers if he can squeeze out 5-6 more years.

Why is the comparison so reeruned? Are you that dense? Fine, I'll give you a few reasons.

1) Smith isn't left handed.
2) Young's great-great-great grandfather was a Mormon Prophet.
3) Steve Young was drafted by the Buccaneers. Please show me where Alex Young was drafted by any Florida team.
4) Steve Young is currently an NFL analyst. Alex Smith hasn't even retired yet.
5) Steve Young succeeded Jeff Garcia. Alex Smith succeeded Matt Cassel. Apples and oranges.

Is this real life?

Alex Smith today has been compared to Steve Young and Aaron Rodgers? Holy ****ing shit. Hold on while I get my Anthony Fasano jersey... or should I say... Tony Gonzalez 2.0.
