That's where I'm at too. Even cap the amount they can make. Just let the kids earn the money on their own. Want to teach kids good values? Let them earn money on their own and then surround them with personal finance education.

Ok then, they'll figure out how to do the same for the athletes. Unless you believe women's tennis pays their coach $5m
Are coaches' salaries regulated under Title IX?

I don't think there should be even a cap. If a college kid designed the next Facebook would they limit him on how much he could make while still in school?

That's what I just said. Bammy figures out a way to get Saban 7.16m (I lowball end him earlier). They'll figure out how to get their football players $. One earlier suggestion was marketing dollars, likenesses, maybe video game royalties paid direct and bypassing the institution

There should be no cap on earnings ever in any private industry.

There isn't. A college kid can make as much as he wants.

And then Alabama players will make $10,000 for an hour of washing boosters' cars.

The problem you have to control is a booster giving a bullshit job to a big recruit and paying that person a gazillion dollars per hour. I don't know how you do it. But it's a way of discouraging schools with huge alumni donorship from getting a recruiting advantage. I just know that what they're doing now isn't the answer.

Ncaa players should definitely be getting paid atleast a little bit. Most of the guys dont have shit their freshman year if their parents aren't supporting them. When I did track at Mizzou (I was on a 100% scholarship) I didn't even have money to put gas in my tank, or to even go to the movies during my freshman year. And I considered myself to be one of the kids who was better off. Depending on how the scholarship is setup, after you move off campus you will get a stipend. For some guys it's only around $200-$800 a month, and if you're on a full, or the partial goes towards room and board its around $800. Which still isn't even minimum wage. Thats just sad considering how much football, and basketball guys bring in.

Bammy boosters bought Saban a mansion. That's right: his $7.16m is just pay, his mansion is free. Talk about an unfair recruiting advantage!

We don't seem to worry about what boosters do for Nick Saban. But we worry about what they could do for Amari Cooper.

Yes. Title IX took a toll on Missouri State by killing a successful track and field, tennis team and (IIRC) wrestling team in order to get an even number of male and female athletes and prohibits the school from investing enough cash to get top coaches in basketball, seeing as the men's basketball coach in Paul Lusk is one of the lowest paid coaches in the Valley.

Interestingly enough,(allegedly) President Clif Smart made the move to get Steckel and has found ways to increase his salary over what Terry Allen was paid and also secured the funding to pay for Steckel's assistants as well.
