How bout this?
The teams get ranked by their television market size, 32 (biggest) to 1 (smallest). In the playoffs, that team gets spotted that many points to start the game. For example, If NY Giants play Chicago in the playoffs, NY is the #1 TV market, Chicago is #3, that's a two point difference, so when the game starts, Giants are up 2 to 0. That's just as fair as what we saw today.

Regardless of that penalty fiasco, Detroit played like a bunch of pussies to end the game. Doesn't excuse the horrible refereeing but goddamn, Caldwell, sack up.

It's not even really about it being PI (to me, it was), but the procedure by which the penalty was nullified.

Imagine if Williams' TD catch was closer to the OOB marker. Refs call it a TD on the field, Bailey hits the PAT, then Caldwell challenges as the Cowboys are readying for the kickoff. At that point, the crew looks at it and overturns the call.

It's the procedure that's the hangup.

I think its just the timing of them waving the call off. It was strange after they went over the speaker and announced then, changed it.
