If Shorts can regain his explosive form from his rookie year, then he's a steal in FA. I think he needs a stable situation with a semi-competent QB and he'll be just fine.

How about a QB that can throw him open?

Or really even throw to him when he is open.

I love it! I'd be ecstatic going into the season with that WR core!

Two things though:

1) If we draft Flowers in the first, I expect him to start.
2) I would like to see us work out a restructure/extension with Hali

Great work!

I'm sorry, I don't get it, at all.

You sign Ryan Harris for two years, yet draft a tackle in the first? Where's Flowers supposed to play? You draft a guard in the fourth but the Chiefs already have LDT and Allen.

And A.Q. Shipley?

Plus, your CB is too short. Dorsey goes for long, lean, quick quys - The Richard Sherman prototype, not 5'11. Same with the receivers. The Chiefs need 6'3+ jump ball guys, not 5'11 receivers.

Not digging it, at all.

The Chiefs need speed WR's who can get YAC and get open quickly. Losing Donnie Avery killed us this season.

I think guys like Devin Smith, Nelson Agholor, Rashad Greene and Tyler Lockett for that role perfectly

The Chiefs have a couple of speed receivers in Wilson and DAT. IMO, they need at least one 6'3+ WR that can fight for contested balls and a tall possession receiver.

Alex just isn't going to throw the ball down the field. Tall, great possession guys are the best fit, IMO.

Smith will NOT throw jump balls. Ever. If the dude isn't open they're not getting the ball.

That may be true but hopefully, the wide receiver(s) that the Chiefs draft this year won't have to play with Smith for long.

Didn't list the roster as a depth chart by the way.

I re-signed Harris as a depth swing tackle, to be honest only because you all wanted him re-signed.

My Depth Chart Guesstimate would be...

LT Eric Fisher - Would have competition from Flowers
RT Ereck Flowers
OT Ryan Harris - Backup Swing, Chiefs need a good backup here

LG A.Q. Shipley
RG Zach Fulton
OG John Miller - Will compete to start at RG
OL Jeff Allen - Backup at OT and compete to start at LG

OC Rodney Hudson
OC Eric Kush - Backup

As for the CB, it isn't Dorsey that goes for tall CBs. The Packers routinely have drafted CBs between 5'11 and 6'0. The best CBs are usually between 5'11 and 6'0 because their hips aren't as tight as taller CBs. Also, Darelle Revis is 5'11 and Sutton didn't seem to have a problem using him. Quit acting as if there is a specific type that KC must draft. They'll draft a CB that's 5'11 if they feel he's a good fit, they don't need a bunch of 6'3 corners running around.

At WR, Reid CLEARLY has a track record of using a bunch of 6'3 jump ball receivers... That fact is, most of the receivers he's ever used are 6'0.
Donnie Avery - 5'11
A.J. Jenkins - 6'0
Jason Avant - 6'0
Jeremy Maclin - 6'0
Kevin Curtis - 6'0
DeSean Jackson - 5'10
Freddie Mitchell - 5'11
Charles Johnson - 6'0
James Trash - 6'0
Antonio Freeman - 6'1
Greg Lewis - 6'0
Reggie Brown - 6'1
the list goes on...

He's had some taller recievers like Todd Pinkston, Riley Cooper, and Terrell Owens (all 6'3) as well as Hank Baskett (6'4), but the norm is a lot more around 6'0. He inherited Dwayne Bowe at 6'2...

To say the Chiefs need a bunch of 6'3 jump-ball receivers is ridiculous at best. It is far more likely Reid continues his trend of getting 5'11 to 6'1 receivers that are quicker in their breaks for his offense than guys that are going to go up and get it.

Bunch? I said one. And the game is changing and has changed since Reid began his head coaching career.

FWIW, you have too much time on your hands. Go out. Get another job. Get a girlfriend or two.

Jesus.

I put this together in about an hour and a half... I am an Operations Manager and have a wife with 2 kids. I don't need much time to think, I have a brain that functions pretty well.

Fun read, thanks. The Craig Robertson thing probably won't work though, since he's an RFA and likely to get afirst round tender (he was undrafted).

Hmm good catch. I was thinking he didn't qualify as a RFA because he's been in the NFL for 4 seasons and will be over the age of 27 when the new league year begins (turns 27 in February). I guess he does only have 3 "accrued" seasons because he spent his 1st year on the practice squad. Even then I must be making an error in thinking because I still thought he could declare himself an unrestricted free agent because of age. Son of a bitch. He was a key guy in my mind to go after, but not to give a pick up for.
