If Elway thinks he can re-create an offense to protect Manning the same way Kubiak and Shanahan created an offense to help Elway win two Super Bowls at the end of his career… he is overlooking several key differences:

1) Alex Gibbs zone blocking scheme is not in place.
2) Terrell Davis is not walking through that door.
3) Manning is far more washed up than Elway was.

Houston imploded in Kubiak's final season there and he basically had a nervous breakdown. He will be under intense pressure to deliver a Super Bowl in what will likely be Manning's final season next year… and he doesn't have a good track record of handling adversity or pressure well as a HC.
Kubrick is known for his zone blocking schemes. Eight different running backs have had at least 1,000 yard seasons under Kuniak. The Ravens had their most productive offense under him in the Flacco era.

Elway and Kubiak are buds. Kubiak runs Elway's favorite offensive scheme, which will help him identify players who excel in that scheme. Kubiak's had some prior success as a head coach and just spent a year in Baltimore, which had to be a good learning experience.

Unfortunately for us Chiefs fans, I think this is a very, very good hire. I just hope he doesn't get Vic Fangio to run the defense.

Their best offense? Big whoopy doo. They needed us to get in the playoffs.

He had a better offense than Jim Caldwell, who just had a pretty good season with the Lions.

If Denver has decent QB play, they're going to be a tough out, as usual.

Manning has one season left… so in one offseason Kubiak and Manning are going to learn how to co-exist even though Manning's lack of mobility makes him not an ideal fit for Kubiak's offense?

Also Denver is going to have to adjust their offensive line in one offseason to fit Kubiak's preferred zone blocking scheme.

This seems to be asking for a lot of adjustments/changes to happen in one offseason/season.

I'll be surprised if Manning comes back. Personally, I don't believe that Elway wants him back because if he had, he wouldn't have fired everyone.
