Drafted in the fourth round by the Dallas Cowboys, Musgrave was released in camp, but played with the San Francisco 49ers in 1991 and 1993 under head coach George Seifert and offensive coordinator Mike Shanahan. Musgrave went with Shanahan to Denver, where he played in 1995-96, and was released in preseason 1997.

They couldn't have picked a worse guy for the job if they hired Brian Daboll

I'm not to thrilled but he was a QB in the NFL and has been a QB coach for years. He might be able to help improve Carr. At least JDR thinks so. That's right folks the Raiders are trying to develop their own QB. GASP!

One thing I've noticed is that most teams in the playoffs developed their own QB. Musgraves must develop Carr to succeed!

IF any fan base in the NFL could identify a bad hire its the Kansas City Chiefs fans...

We have seen the worse of the worse in coaching hires.. IF a CP member says it a bad hire, there is a good chance it is... We are experts at dealing with shit coaches.

Ok, now that he's out of the running... I'll say that I'm curious to see how Trestman does if he gets a second shot.

There was an interesting article by Cosell that talked about how he was stuck with Cutler, who was a really bad QB for the scheme he wanted to run. Couple that with Trestman being a bad people manager. Get him on a team where he can pick his QB, give him a little time, put him back on X's and O's. Will be interested to see how he does.

Breathing a sigh of relief on this one. Some of the posters on this board had me worried about Trestman going there. Not sure I understand yet why this is a "horrendous" hire, but hope it's true.

Musgrave worked well with another YPA/YPC abortion in Christian Ponder. Expect more dinking, dunking, and losing from the garbage QB in Oakland.

Looks like he was QB coach for Matt Ryan's first 3 years as well, though.

From what I remember, the Ryan offense the first few years was ridiculously conservative. A luxury you have when Michael Turner is tearing shit up for you. I don't know that QBs these days need the same kind of kid gloves, but I'm happy if the Raiders want to start treating Carr with kid gloves.
