I see some overly clever mod has decided to change my username and profile picture. I understand this is CP tradition of a kind, but not one I have ever participated in. I have never changed my username, and never will.

Nor will I participate on the board when someone changes mine. The mods are of course well within their rights to change my name, and profile pic and I am well within mine to "vote with my feet".

There was a thread on this before. Some kind of glitch had caused some usernames (including mine) to be changed. I posted something just like this, and of course had to pay the inevitable price when it turned out that it had nothing to do with the mods.

If this is in fact goodbye, then best of luck to the Chiefs whenever they play the Donx or Raiders. It's been a fun decade of discussion and arguments. And, of course, GO PATRIOTS!!

(Yes, yes, "wow, what a whiny crybaby." Bottom line, I don't mess with mods, couldn't even name most of them, and don't expect them to mess with me -- just as they haven't for a dozen years....until now).

I have, too. It's not a matter of sense of humor. A certain level of trust needs to exist between community and mods and abuse of this kind violates that. Their job is to stop trolls not behave like them and I've always believed that anybody who does immature things like change names without solicitation is not suited to moderate. The rest of us can be as childish and offensive and as confrontational as we want, within the rules. But I think accepting a role as moderator, and the responsibilities that brings with it, should also be a tacit acceptance of greater responsibility and expectation with regards to one's own behavior.

Just my opinion.

It's in the user edit mode. Any mod or admin can go in and change anyones user name. Most of the time people's ask for it. Sometimes, it's just for fun and most always very temporary.

i get that

but in the heat of the moment it can feel like abuse, ive had it happen on multiple boards.....

but I do agree with you its kind of an individual thing and can even depend on the frame of mind at the time...

I was REALLY pissed when mods messed with my account before......and I actually did leave for over a year (around a year?) and I never even lurked....

But then I realized that 'the mods' were human too, and everyone makes mistakes..etc....and that I didnt really care about my 'account' as much as I cared about the board

anyway long story short i can see both points of view and more importantly I am 100% sure Flopnuts is a great guy with no bad bone in his body

and im not even gonna make a bone joke
