According to the report, the league sources say the NFL determined 11 of the 12 footballs used by the Patriots were under-inflated by two pounds per square inch each. Per NFL rules, footballs are required to be inflated between 12.5 and 13.5 PSI and weigh between 14 and 15 ounces.

My bottom line with the Pats is pretty simple. I just don't think year to year they are on the level. It's pretty easy to believe at this pont that they were deflating footballs all season. Even if they catch no one and no one owns up to it, does not change the fact that someone did it. I do think Bill chilled out sinch spygate but until then it stands to reason that they did alot of cheating with video.

No doubt Goodell burned the tapes because the Rams practice was one of them. That is the only reason to destroy it but according him it was nothing. That is a bold faced lie. If that evidence got out then he would have been forced to strip them of their SB win.

The Black Sox' reputation still hasn't recovered, and that scandal happened in 1919. Belicheat and Brady will be remembered as cheaters above all else, it is what it is. If they didn't want to go out like that, they shouldn't have cheated.

as soon as someone can tell me why Goodell destroyed all of the evidence and then levied a big fine to the coach and took away a premium pick ... I'll get over it

Until then, I'll assume the cheating was SO BAD it would've seriously tarnished the integrity of the game and it left the NFL and Goodell no choice but to pretend it wasn't that serious and to just destroy all of the evidence while taking away a pick to save face

By the way, if there was nothing unethical about taping signals and Belicheat was supposedly doing it out in the open, why did he have Walsh lurk around wearing non-team-branded gear and pretending to be part of the media? Why go through all that effort to hide it if it was on the level and "everyone was doing it"?

Again, it's pretty simple for anyone who doesn't want to be naive.

The NFL destroyed all of the evidence.

That means it was really, really, really, really bad. Now, until this scandal, everyone had basically forgotten and stopped caring (I know this because I was bringing it up in my annual Manning Vs. Brady threads)...

So the NFL destroyed it, everyone forgot and stopped caring, and then they got caught again and everyone suddenly remembers, "hey, that's right! This team cheats!"

But yes.

Destroyed evidence = would've seriously hurt the integrity of the league if it saw the light of day.

Probably the Rams walkthrough was the big one.
