Here's a bad pic of the Challenger. They haven't even really processed the car into the lot yet.

Nice looking car. Though with those I'd think the bigger engine options would be needed to power something that heavy to actually feel like a muscle car. Trying to recall what the one just below the SRT8 was called that gives you the performance but not quite as pricy.

0-60 in 6 seconds. The 335 I drove today was 4.5 seconds.

Imagine you noticed 6 vs 4.5 is a pretty big difference.

For me at least I have found on a daily drive basis that a great balance of sport handling/ride (basically the chassis) is what I think I may enjoy most combined with short burst from the throttle and making the worst of MPG. Where something like a 3/4 series coupe tends to shine even though it is also very quick in a straight line.

I imagine I'll spend weeks in the different drive modes figuring out if they make a difference, either on their own or in the way I drive. Based on stuff posted online, I think at worst I'll get the same ~21mpg with the 235 than I get now, but should actually see a ~3mpg improvement, which would be fantastic.

The 5.7 Hemi is plenty for me, just south of 400 hp and I have seen as high as 28 mpg actual

It's going to cost me $175 a month in insurance to get the 8 cylinder. And I'm not really that interested in going fast. Just get up on the on ramp and around big ass tractor trailers.

What do you think Hemi-Ed? I trust your opinion. In 2015, is the Challenger the best of the retro muscle cars?

I do for several reasons BRC.

Room being first and foremost.

My old boss and best friend had three of the new Camaros (2 for children) and I had several opportunities to drive and ride in them.

My new Mustang experience is more limited, but if you were looking to go fast, I think they have the most bang for the buck in that department.

Since Obama gave Chrysler to Fiat, they have done some nice things with improving the interiors and styling across the board in my opinion.

They have pretty much stuck with the original Challenger styling cues and haven't deviated from it as much as the Camaro and Mustang.

Update on my insurance costs. Between $100 - $300 a year for the 8 cylinder. So the 8 cylinder is back in the hopper.

Nice. Haven't driven one before but think its best looking of the throwback style muscle cars and sounds great. While its easy to use reason to justify something like the v6 over the v8 for me at least every time I see and hear the v8 I'd think about it. Once the newness wears off the itch will return for what I really wanted.
