This team was constructed like shit. Is Self a victim of his own success? Yes, I think so. But what do we REALLY want?

Is making the tourney every year good enough if we're going out in the round of 32 or sweet 16?

I spent the past few nights watching great teams from 2003, 2005, etc etc and I feel no connection to this year's squad as I did them. Cliff was a disaster but maybe Black Panda needs to go if we're just going to get the same bullshit every year?

Why don't we have Baker or this Weasel guy? Why do we only look to Baltimore, TX, Chicago and Oak Hill?? Maybe start doing some real recruiting work and stop relying on Rivals to make all your choices for you.

That's all I'm saying. Bill's gettin a little fat..... you could see it on TV today.

Being at a perennial powerhouse certainly helps win games and it certainly makes recruiting easier. But it's not THE PROGRAM at any of those schools. It's the program AND the right coach. And Bill Self is a helluva coach. Anybody who doesn't understand that is a moron.
Apparently KU don't need no coach. I'm thinking someone else needs to be checking themselves here.

Good post.

Is this the summer coach Pop retires & HCBS leaves KU for San Anton (his daughter & son-in-law do live in TX)?

Will the actions of Alexander's parents get KU a 2016 postseason ban?

I agree with one thing, Bill is getting fat. I think if he were a little skinnier we would be looking at a championship this year.

It's true, man. I live in Champaign. Self turned the Illini into a title contender. He had Villanueva coming to join Deron Williams, Luther Head, Dee Brown, James Augustine and Roger Powell the year he left for KU. Those were 5 NBA players and the runner up WITHOUT Villanueva who didn't come to Illinois after Self left.

Self got 5 NBA players to commit to Champaign, IL. 6 if Charlie came. You know how much success Illinois has had and how many NBA players they've recruited since Self? Ha.

Self is a hell of a recruiter and a hell of a coach. Only KU fans would be entitled enough to try and discredit his success. Embarrassing.

The fact that you believe Self would leave KU for Texas tells us all we need to know about the level of basketball knowledge you possess.

I began, "How many...?" I was looking for a quantifiable answer.

It's a pretty straight forward question, I thought.

Yes and there are quite a few who are overreacting right now. Let it calm down, how anyone that followed this team couldn't see this coming is beyond me.

Hootie nailed it, and he didn't even mention what Self did at a school in OK that has a smaller student enrollment than Fort Hays State.
