They're not having to shell out tons of money to key defenders. Seattle has a lot of good defensive stars to lock up.

Tannehill's contract was only $97 million with $21 million guaranteed.

Newton's was for $103 million.

I believe that Wilson is asking for more than $110 million.

What needs to be explained? Given contract inflation and their age those guys signed pretty standard contracts (I don't like Cam's extension, for the record) and Peyton just took a paycut.

For reference, Aaron Rodgers signed an extension worth $110 million 2 years ago. Apparently Wilson is asking for something substantially north of that (keep contract inflation in mind) and I've also heard talks of a fully guaranteed contract.

It all just seems like routine contract negotiations to me. Not dissimilar of what we're doing with Houston.

Seattle chose to pay Richard Sherman and others top dollar contracts, knowing that Wilson's deal would expire at the end of the 2015 season.
