Looking for a quad cab pickup

I've spent the last 6 1/2 years getting the crap beat out of me by my rough riding Dakota and I don't really want another one.

I've seen a few Explorer Sport Tracs that are reasonably priced, but I'm worried that they're cheap for a reason. I know the Explorers of the 90s were garbage.

I do like the Chevy Colorados but the resale on them is ridiculous. Hell I may as well buy a Toyota for what they're going for. And they have a 5 cyl...wtf?

Anybody have any experiences with either of these?

Night and day.

I tested the Silverado and the Ram on the same day, same roads.

The Ram was much better with the coil springs in the back. Silverado and dakota had leaf. My dakota had 1-2 year old shocks on them too.
The Ram glides nicely and dampens even small bumps. Kids like the back seat too.

My new company F-150 gets between 16-18 on the highway but it has the big ass engine and I drive stuff like a stole it. It may not be broke in yet either but dangit I'm trying.

Heh, I've heard all kinds of horror stories about Chrysler transmissions, but the one in my Dakota is still chugging along at 145k.

No. It's a 2010 loaded extended cab. I was looking for a SUV when I bought it. Everyone wants the crew cab and the new engine was coming out in 2011 (IIRC) so I got it for 23,000. I couldn't pass up the price.

If someone hits it, I will get out and beat them.

When then there's hope. Anything gets better gas mileage then my F-250 with the V-10.

He did have a recall on an o2 sensor in 09, but since then, brakes and tires.

That's the kind of pickup you need. Unfortunately it is still worth 10-12, but it will run a good long time yet and be a way better pickup than a compact. I don't know what you're Dakota is getting, but a full size chevy with a 5.3 will get 16 out in the country and 18 on the highway.

Besides that, if you keep the pickup for 100,000, if you're getting 16, you will buy 6,250 gallons of fuel. If you're getting 20 (I doubt it) in a compact, you buy 5,000. That's 1250 gallon difference. At $2.50 gas, that's $3,125 over the life of the vehicle. If you're doing 20,000 miles a year, that is $625/ year. With the added towing capacity, bed size, cab size, comfort, etc., gas really isn't that much. And that's if you get a 4 MPG bump buying a compact, which, unless it's a manual, I doubt you get.
How often do you deal with crowded parking lots and merging on and off the freeway through multiple lanes of rush hour traffic out there in Scott City?

It's a ****ing madhouse. Especially by the school where the speed limit drops to 20 on main street.

Seriously, I can drive big vehicles anywhere without a problem. You get used to it.

Quite honestly, at 7:30, noon, and 3:00, traffic is a pain in the nutsack. But like I said, I just took it to KC, and it wasn't a problem. The foot or so longer than it is than a compact is of no significance. The biggest thing about it is, just like with any car, don't get something underpowered. Mine has a 5.3 and it is snappy. My old one had a 5.3, and this one is way faster.

EDIT: Parking lots with tiny assed spaces are kind of a pain, but it is a negligible increase in PIA from a compact.
