Maclin Firing shots at Fantasy Football owners.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...r-fantasy-team
Jeremy Maclin is on a warpath, and he's coming for the heads of selfish roto-nerds everywhere. The morning after he caught another preseason touchdown for the Chiefs, Maclin took to Twitter to take issue with a large sect of football fans: fantasy owners. Play NFL Fantasy Football! "It amazes me how 'Fantasy Football' is the only football that some of you know," Maclin said. "It's sad. News flash for yall (sic): I don't give a damn about ur (sic) "Fantasy" football team. #ChiefsKingdom" It's not clear what set the Chiefs wide receiver off, but it has ignited fevered responses from fantasy experts and fans from around the world wide web. After ESPN's Matthew Berry tweeted at Maclin that he shouldn't "insult fans who drive ratings and revenue", Maclin responded, "Football is about what a team achieves. You taking it way too far talking about my salary." He also retorted with a haymaker of reason, "I'm not insulting anybody who roots for players. I'm frown (sic) upon those who will sacrifice a team victory for a fantasy victory." As with all Twitter beefs, both parties have a point. Maclin doesn't like how Chiefs fans will be more upset with losing a fantasy matchup because of Maclin's performance than with the Chiefs losing; that's a brand loyalty issue that Kansas City's new acquisition would clearly have trouble with. On the other hand, Berry, like most fantasy experts around the internet, isn't wrong when he implies that fantasy owners are often some of the most invested in the league and make up a massive percentage of eyeballs on any given Sunday. Not that insulting fantasy owners would deter them to not select Maclin in their draft, especially when he's the only Chiefs wide receiver that actually scores touchdowns. Thankfully, football fans don't have to choose between rooting exclusively for their favorite team or for individual fantasy players. They can do both, as long as they don't take either too seriously so as to wish ill will against players. If you want to stick it to Maclin, sign up for fantasy here. If you agree with the Chiefs wideout... well, sign up anyway.

I think the truth hurts for Maclin. He is a piece of meat on the field and no one will care if he gets brain damaged or injured. Fans aren't going do crap for him if he is injured, they will just cheer for the next fast guy that wears the same laundry as him.

Marlin is right about one thing in all of this.....it is about what the team does on the field.
Marlin was 6 years old the last time a Chiefs fan saw a win in a post season football game. He is right, it is about production on the field. My wife's 97 year old grandmother had exactly the same number of touchdown receptions in 2014 as any professional wide receiver playing in Kansas City. As far as I am concerned marlin can shut his ****ing mouth until he gets into the endzone in a Chiefs helmet during a regular season game. Hate fantasy football all you want but there has been a decade of football for Chiefs fans where it was the only reason to watch the steaming shit we paid to see on the field. Maybe he wasn't watching football when we were suffering through Todd Collins and Tyler thigpin. There are 6-8 games a week no one outside of their maerkers would watch without a rooting FFB interest. As far as comments about his salary, he can eat a bag of dick whistles on that, because as fans we do watch the salary cap. We are invested in the tea,s interest longer than MOST of the players, including this one who has been a chief for 5 minutes. You get the big bucks, fans expect you to back it up on the field. Not a single time have I ever rooted against the Chiefs for FFB reasons, but for the decade we saw them suck, and they were losing anyway, it didn't hurt anything if the shit performing defense gave up another late TD to a RB who happens to be on my team. |

Anyone who cares more about their fantasy team or is unable to separate the two is a moron...most people I know care MUCH MUCH more about their real teams....and the fantasy teams are just a way to have some fun during the other games

Between Maclin's obvious high character as evidenced in the other thread, and the intense amount of butt hurt he has generated among fantasy-tards, I can easily dub him my new favorite Chief.
Huzzah!

It's one of the reasons that I don't play Fantasy Football anymore. I can't stand cheering for players on teams that I can't stand.

Before Reid and Dorsey The Chiefs were so miserable I really can't blame the person. Fantasy football was their only reason to care at that point |

I wonder is Jeremy marlin would approve of the name of my 14 man FFB team after getting stuck with Marshawn lynch at pick 5. Beast infection.
I am considering. "What would Jeremy marlin do" for the next team. |
