***** OFFICIAL 2015 KANSAS FOOTBALL THREAD *****

Let's go...

Rob Likens (Offensive Coordinator)

"Rob has been a major player in some of the best offenses in the history of college football,” Beaty said of his new OC, who enjoyed great success at Louisiana Tech and helped lead Cal's 2013 offense to several school records and put the 2014 version in the Top 10 nationally. “I have always been a fan of Rob's ability to develop players who produce at a high level. Rob has learned from some of the best in the country and is as fine of an offensive mind as I have been around. Rob is a man of integrity and character and I cannot wait for our team to be able to benefit from his wisdom."

Zach Yenser (Offensive Line - Run Game Coordinator)

A source with knowledge of the rest of the Kansas University football coaching staff told The Journal-World on Tuesday night that Cal assistant coach Zach Yenser would join Beaty's staff as the offensive line coach and run game coordinator.

Cal coach Sonny Dykes later confirmed the news via a statement given to Cal's Rivals.com site.

Clint Bowen (Defensive Coordinator)

Je'Ney Jackson (Strength and Conditioning)

"Je'Ney brings a great familiarity with the University of Kansas as well as a wealth of experience in the strength and conditioning world," Beaty said. "His ability to develop and relate to our players will be a large part of our initiative moving forward. He is widely regarded as one of the top coordinators in this field. He is without a doubt, my most important hire and we are honored to have him here."

Kevin Kane (Linebackers)

"I always admired Kevin as a player, but I am even more impressed with his ability to teach and develop young players. He is a tireless recruiter and he is as well thought of in the Kansas City community as anyone I know. He will bring an energy and toughness to our team that we will all benefit from. It has been fun watching his linebackers play over the years and I'm glad that he is now coaching our guys.”

Calvin Thibodeaux (Defensive Line)

"His players exhibit responsibility, toughness and passion and we are looking forward to him bringing those elements to KU. His ability as a coach is only surpassed by his upstanding character and integrity as a man."

Klint Kubiak (Wide Receivers)

"He is as hard of a worker as I have ever seen in our profession. His ability to connect with his players in the NFL and at Texas A&M has been impressive to watch. Our wide receivers will benefit greatly from his experience."

Gene Wier (Director of High School Relations)

"Not only is he fulfilling a lifelong dream of becoming a Jayhawk, but he will certainly add a much-needed element to our staff. His long-standing relationships with the great coaches of the state will allow us to better understand and serve our coaches."

Less anal rape on a weekly basis would be nice.

In all seriousness, i'd like to see some competitiveness from the team as a whole... Not just individual players. Under Weissass and Radio, you'd have a player here and there that were competitive... but the rest of the team seemed to run in slow motion. As if they were afraid to fail (or succeed for that matter).

I want to see kids playing football, not going through the motions.

In all honesty, this has got to be about the perfect time for a coach to lead a Snyderesque turnaround. You could look at every other coach in the conference save Gary Patterson and make a compelling argument that they won't be there beyond the 2016 season.

It was being discussed today on the radio that this actually seemed like a good time for a new staff to take over a team like KU.

I think what's going on at Baylor is going to blow up big. That school has simply sold their souls to the devil to win in both football and basketball and I think it's finally going to catch up with them.

What sucks for KU fans is that on Friday night Baylor will be starting a QB that was committed to the Hawks up until the day Turner Gill was fired. My point is that talent on Power 5 programs can swift very quickly and with the right staff in place Beaty could be in a great position to move his program to the middle of the pack sooner than later.

TCU is here to stay. The school and fans are shit but the coach is great. This must frustrate UT and OU to no end but that is not within Kansas' concern this year.

I want a win Saturday. And I want a comfortable win. KU is strong at RB, DE, and TE. The OL has come together better than the staff has originally predicted as has the interior defensive linemen.

I think KU wins 38-17.

From what I've heard this staff is focused on details and preparation unlike the past two head coaches. Could this be BS? Possibly... but at the onset of the season a fan typically gives the benefit of the doubt. As KU fans we want to see a professionally run game with few mistakes and missed assignments...even if that means the most talented players aren't on the field. This is the only way to build a program.

If you look back at the good KU teams 7-10 years ago you saw disciplined line play that rarely got called for holding, false starts, etc. That needs to happen. TG and Weis both ran teams that opted to put the "most talented player" on the field as opposed to insisting that those players follow their assignments to a "t". Those are the types of things I'll be looking for more on Saturday as opposed to the scoreboard.

Regardless it's great to be back and playing ball. For some reason this offseason has felt impossibly long.

The spread is 5. The game is at home. SDS has never beat a 1A team. Plus factoring in the point that this is Beaty's first game? I think they come in fast and get out to a lead.

Watch out for Steven Sims. From all accounts KU has a real steal with this kid.

Joshua Stanford brings good size and should be better skilled than anyone on the opposing team's roster.

The running backs are solid.

It will all come down to Montell. I'm willing to cut the kid a break because the past two seasons have been a trainwreck for his development. When Beaty came in he put plenty of pressure on MC and that will include this Saturday. Ryan Willis has a cannon for an arm and is by far the best thrower on the team. It won't take long for the true freshman to get on the field if things aren't working out for MC.

I feel KU has more options than originally thought. Either way it's going to be fun.

Will find out tomorrow if my son and I have tickets to the TCU @ OU game. Not an OU fan on the least. But everyone I fly is. Possibility that I might meet Jerome Bettis soon as another owner and him are best friends. Didn't know that until his HOF induction. And what sucks is I had to pass up the Canton trip as I was Already booked for another trip.

They went to Bettis private party and met him in person. Bettis moved through the crowd quickly to get to the person we flew up there. Cried when he hugged him. Had no idea they were that close.

Still pisses me off that j could of went.

I really don't have expectations in year 1. This sets the baseline. Ask me next season...

We have a pair of season tickets and all I know is that my 5 year old has been talking about Saturday's game for the past 2 weeks.

That's pretty awesome for me.

That's awesome. Sometimes I wish our owners were KU fans. We would travel a lot more. Once OU loses a game they stop watching and caring.
