Maclin Firing shots at Fantasy Football owners.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...r-fantasy-team

Jeremy Maclin is on a warpath, and he's coming for the heads of selfish roto-nerds everywhere.

The morning after he caught another preseason touchdown for the Chiefs, Maclin took to Twitter to take issue with a large sect of football fans: fantasy owners.

Play NFL Fantasy Football!

"It amazes me how 'Fantasy Football' is the only football that some of you know," Maclin said. "It's sad. News flash for yall (sic): I don't give a damn about ur (sic) "Fantasy" football team. #ChiefsKingdom"

It's not clear what set the Chiefs wide receiver off, but it has ignited fevered responses from fantasy experts and fans from around the world wide web.

After ESPN's Matthew Berry tweeted at Maclin that he shouldn't "insult fans who drive ratings and revenue", Maclin responded, "Football is about what a team achieves. You taking it way too far talking about my salary."

He also retorted with a haymaker of reason, "I'm not insulting anybody who roots for players. I'm frown (sic) upon those who will sacrifice a team victory for a fantasy victory."

As with all Twitter beefs, both parties have a point. Maclin doesn't like how Chiefs fans will be more upset with losing a fantasy matchup because of Maclin's performance than with the Chiefs losing; that's a brand loyalty issue that Kansas City's new acquisition would clearly have trouble with.

On the other hand, Berry, like most fantasy experts around the internet, isn't wrong when he implies that fantasy owners are often some of the most invested in the league and make up a massive percentage of eyeballs on any given Sunday. Not that insulting fantasy owners would deter them to not select Maclin in their draft, especially when he's the only Chiefs wide receiver that actually scores touchdowns.

Thankfully, football fans don't have to choose between rooting exclusively for their favorite team or for individual fantasy players. They can do both, as long as they don't take either too seriously so as to wish ill will against players.

If you want to stick it to Maclin, sign up for fantasy here. If you agree with the Chiefs wideout... well, sign up anyway.

do you start opposing players against the Chiefs.

Why not?

If I'm playing fanduel I know exactly why I should or shouldn't start a player vs. the Chiefs.

And I think the Chiefs D will score daddy a lot of pts this year...

Oddly enough ESPN has Maclin as a top 15-20 Fantasy WR this year.

And yet the suck team he's on still has a better record than the Raiders. I'm as shocked as anyone at that news*.

*Not really. The Raiders have been, are and will most likely always be terribad. But look out for their fantasy players!

Sorry, Mr. Maclin...Fantasy Football is the ONLY thing that makes this product watchable. The product on the field is horrible.

There is no clear definition of a catch for crying out loud....every call is questionable and up for interpretation and this league is over officiated.

In the end though you still have Alex Smith and Andy Reid. You have reached the ceiling. That is good enough for the owners of your team so it should be good for you.

Maclin sucks now? Well that's news to me.

He's missed a game, so that obviously hurts his numbers a little but if you prorate his stats over 16 games, he'd be on pace for about 1,100 yards and 85 catches. That certainly doesn't suck.

And even beyond the stats, I don't know how people can't see the impact he has on the offense. If !@#$ing Kelce could ever hold onto a ball, you'd see how many of those routes he's opened up over the middle. Moreover, the attention he gets absolutely makes it easier for the RBs to find space.

He's been worth every penny this year. He's a perfect addition to the offense.

How do you come up with that? Try about 75 catches and 950 yards. He has 9 catches for under 100 yards last 3 games. He knew his numbers would suck once he cashed KC's checks with Checkdown Charlie and that fat **** that thinks he is a great coach.

48/9*16=85

612/9*16=1088

Health is a skill and missing a game obviously matters, but if you're looking at what he's doing on a per game basis, he's playing well. Moreover, it's not as though he's missed half the season either, he's just missed the single game (despite taking some brutal cheap shots this year) and when he's been in there, he's been an excellent weapon for us.

On a per game basis, Amari Cooper's put up 16 game rates of 82 catches and 1175 yards. He's been very slightly more productive than Maclin game in, game out (fewer catches/gm, more yards) and has not missed a game so that's a mark in his favor.

Per game, they've been about equally productive. Cooper's numbers are better due to having the extra game played. That's the difference between a guy that's had a very good season (Cooper) and a guy that's 'sucked'?

You're talking out your ass here. Maclin's been a very good player for the Chiefs. He's been everything we could've asked for.
