Yeah it cracks me up that the media is all of a sudden on the hunger strike kid's bandwagon. Who the hell knew about this or honestly cared about it before the football team brought it to light.

People who aren't here don't have any idea how ****ed up this University really is.

They literally ****ed up every way you can **** up.

Grad Student Health Insurance

Reaction to Incidents of Racism to prominent members of the student body

Inciting the faculty

Inciting the Greek system

Bowing to pressure from Kurt Schaefers to cancel contracts w/ PP and remove referring privileges for the physician there

The number of sexual assaults on this campus is out of control, even for college campus standards

They literally cannot do anything right. And while they didn't inherit all the problems (as the cotton ball example shows), they didn't do anything to try and fix them.

Haha. They talked about this on SECRant, saying that no other SEC school would have let this happen, that they're all super sensitive to racial issues and avoid letting them escalate due to past experience with this sort of thing. Not sure I agree, but I thought it was an interesting take.

The president is a leader on campus, just like the Chancellor. He had enough sway to get some things changed and didn't. He had the misfortune of bowtie not being around too long, so he took more of the brunt.

People hated his guts and were looking for a good cause to get him the **** out. This wasn't the most ironclad thing ever, but it was enough to work so they used it.

He didn't lose his job because a kid called another kid the n word. He truly sucked at his job and they found a good cause to finally boot his ass.

You don't need to be a good politician to be good at your job. Uf you're gonna suck, you better be a damn good politician.
Wolfe's not lazy - he's cold. He's a guy that just does the job and doesn't feel a need to explain why he did it. And in a corporate context, that's a fine way to do things.

A month ago you could copy and paste every single thing people are saying about Wolfe, change the name to 'Loftin' and most would've still run with it. And it had nothing to do with Loftin (who's easily the most personable University admin I've ever met) - it's because they were pissed about the Planned Parenthood decision. So people assigned absolutely inaccurate personality traits to him because it made him an easier villain. The problem for them is that Loftin is an excellent statesman and he got in front of the character assaults.

Wolfe couldn't do that. So when the mob lost their frontal assault on Loftin, they just turned to the next guy. Wolfe simply wasn't politically attuned enough to save himself.

You shouldn't need to be a politician to be a good University President, especially not the way Mizzou has structured their responsibilities. But what this makes abundantly clear is that you actually do need to be a politician now.

I can't speak to a lot of it. I simply relayed a story as to the neo-nazi's because i was literally right smack in the middle of that one.

The 2004 article I know nothing about at all. I can only assume they're referring to some article in The Maneater and let me tell you, the Maneater is pretty much an internet comments section on both sides of the aisle. The Civil Rights initiative was a proposed Missouri State Law (really just a ballot initiative) that black students protested - so? Again, what's that have to do with the University (and the language of the initiative was far more benign that being suggested here).

The cotton ball incident led to two students being arrested and suspended until they had a sit-down with black campus leaders (facilitated by the University) who forgave them. The University had a town hall meeting in response and the chancellor at the time spoke out very strongly in condemning it. I don't know anything about the spray paint incident but again, I very much doubt the University simply ignored it.

When you overplay your hand for stupid shit (like they did by citing the nazi rally or the ballot initiative) it undermines your ability to speak to truly heinous actions (as Mike Brown blunted the effectiveness of what should have been legitimate outrage over the Garner incident). The incidents cited are either being overblown or the University response is being undersold or flat out ignored in favor of pushing a narrative of systematic racism at the University of Missouri.

That's just not the case. There are racist actors here in Columbia, yes. And racial tensions may well be up here but they're up nationwide. And I'm not going to pull punches here - there's a whole shitload of racism fatigue that has to do with that. A lot of people are sick and tired of dissent being couched as racism. So when the 'good' white people simply sit on the sidelines, the irrational actors - the true racists - start to get a lot of free reign.

Why is that so terrible? What about a University isn't a business? It seems like from the minute you start talking college to the last verse, it's pretty-much all about money, so it makes a lot of sense actually.

And we'll see what GP's little stunt does with recruiting in a few months.

And don't give him any slack because "after a year like this it was going to be hard to recruit anyway." I want signs that 5-star athletes are beating down his door to get into MU. And none of this, "had he done the right thing and told his players to pipe-down he'd be the next BYU."
