Will the Jayhawks ever find a one-and-done player who does what other guys do for schools like UK and Duke?

I know that's easier said than done, and it might be that Self's system takes longer for young players who adapt to.

It's just getting frustrating going hot on the recruiting trail like this, and the best we've ever been able to come up with is McLemore and Wiggins, who were two fairly good college players, but were also top 3 recruits in the country.

Like, how did we find Thomas Robinson? Or Aldrich? What's stopping us from getting players like that who need more time in college to really grow into what they could become? Same thing with Withey-- remember what a trainwreck his first games for us were and what he eventually became?

Landen Lucas appears to be taking that same path. That's why his growth has been so important. He's got multiple years at KU, and he's largely a "known" positive we have going into next season.

Well, he did look great for 30 seconds against Austin Peay.

Embiid would have done some damage in the tournament had he not gotten hurt. Alexander didn't live up to his recruiting ranking but was contributing before his mom got greedy.

Diallo was a disappointment, but we will never know the story behind that - perhaps he made it clear he was gone and not interested in improving or playing a team game, so Self decided that it was in the team's best interest to sit him.

It really comes down to character and priorities. Okafor considered a national title an important accomplishment, it seems Wiggins not so much.

I see Pomeroy #s 1, 3, 5 are alive. (2 was knocked out by 1 in the Elite 8, and 4 was knocked out by 21 during a crazy rally)

Once again this data proves March is a "crapshoot", that we need a diff system like a 2 out of 3 or something, that getting "hot" is all that matters. Lol just kidding, it doesn't

It's easy to forget about Joel. If he had stayed healthy, he could have contributed much like KAT did for Kentucky last year. Simply an enormous talent.

Diallo is a bad basketball player who never learned how to play within the team system. If Self had played him over Lucas, they would have lost games. Pretty sure that's all it was.

Wiggins was nowhere near the college player that Okafor was, nor did he play on a team anywhere near as good as Okafor's. That team losing after Embiid got hurt had little to do with drive or desire, they were just lacking everywhere else.

Are you looking at current rankings, or before the tournament started? Because, ya know, rankings tend to improve for the teams that keep winning, so this argument will always make the teams at the end look better. That's like re-seeding after every round and then trying to prove a point.

Yes, it's live and incorporates tourney play, and no, it doesn't detract the point any.

Embiid and Wiggins were sick. Wiggins was better than Winslow and Okafor was better than Embiid, had Embiid stayed healthy. We were probably as good as that Duke team. If Embiid wasn't Moiaki on the hardwood we may have had something.

McLemore was a damn fine college player but he wasn't a take over a game guy. He fit well in a system.

And Brandon Rush was supposed to be one and done. But he stayed and won hardware.

The big thing is that Self preaches team ball. Teams that one and done kids excel on is hero ball teams. I mean Dukes game was iso Okafor. Look for A cutter. Self doesn't do hero ball. If you hero ball you sit.

Xavier Henry, Ben McLemore (if you count him), Wiggins and Embiid were all great one and dones, IMO.

I will be ecstatic if we manage to land Josh Jackson.

I picked Carolina to win it all in a pool of about 30 Kansas fans.

Literally 90% of them took Kansas. Easiest money I've ever made.
