They have been battling it for years, fans are getting old and passing on.

The NHRA has been doing what they can think of to bring on younger fans/participants with Jr. Dragsters and rice burner races, but it is just not what it used to be.

There have been races without even a full 16 car field in some of the pro brackets.

Participating at almost any level, let alone nationally, has gotten so expensive it has eliminated a lot of possible participants.
