If you are watching a game and not actively wishing injury on a player, but then that player goes down and your mind immediately feels a rush of guilty excitement that you will finally get to see what his back-up can do, does that make you evil? What if you know yourself well enough to predict that possible future excitement, and lack a filter so you speak it aloud? Should you be banned from fandom?

No, I was agreeing with you, and illuminating the possibility of disliking a player without wishing injury [or being a troll].

I'm going to try to be delicate, but we've had people here who have succumbed to prolonged public illnesses, and there are more in store. If you have [or had] an impulse to reference that sobering fact of life in the heat of an argument, should you act on it?

That, and a ban from CP is not a ban from fandom.

The point is there was no such rule about wishing injury on Chiefs players during Pioli. And now there is?

I don't recall the Cassel years as free-wheeling on the injury enthusiasm as you do. Maybe it was in chat or GDTs I missed.

I do recall some fairly strong adverse reaction to 'get a body bag' jubilance, even for him.

It was pretty out in the open that most wanted him hurt just so we could end the misery...

There were threads of conversation debating whether it was cool to wish injury on him. The pro side said, "Pioli's nepotism forced us into this position." The anti side said, "Just can't do that; it's not right."

I'm on my phone, but I'll find the threads when I get home

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

From what I gathered over the recent years is this:

- Clay was not so long ago banned for wishing injury on a player. (prior to this time)

So if this is true.. then I'd say the rule had then been set.

- Clay did it again. That, plus already having transgressed 1000x before in various ways

= banned.

Like others have said already... for whatever reasons.. whether financial arrangements or sentimentality.. he always comes back in a short time.

So, really.. no fuss needed. Frankly, I can't see why anyone would want him back, but blah blah.. you like your shit-stirring Star Wars dork, so hey... welcome the alleged Chiefs fan that wants KC to lose with Alex Smith back with open arms. Pat him on the back for wanting injury to a QB that helped bring winning back to KC.. helped them get a playoff win not had in decades. Salute him for wanting injury to the QB with the 3rd highest win % in 4 years.

Alex is what he is a warm pile of pigeon droppings to remind us of a litany of names like Bono, Grbac, Deberg and of course AS11
Chiefs vs. 49ers, 2010... I was at that game...first KC game I've ever attended. Smith was TERRIBLE and I remember thinking to myself, "holy shit, this guy seriously may be worse than Cassel."

I wish I had the time to sift through that old game thread...probably some gems in there.
