I liked Alex and defended him quite a bit last year, and he played pretty well honestly.

But this year he seems different, either he's purely playing the system or scared to take shots, or both. He is also slow as shit now it seems. Last year he could scramble effectively and pick up first downs. This year he's taking an extra second to recognize where to scramble, and he's getting stuffed.

I'm sure Reid is having him use the pocket more now that he has legitimate receivers developing outside of Maclin and the addition of schwartz at RT.
