Tony Romo eyeing Broncos as offseason destination

Quote:
There will be a market for Romo this offseason, as the team will look to trade him. Though owner Jerry Jones said he's given no consideration to having Romo on another team, carrying him as the backup for another year doesn't seem realistic. Romo, I'm told, already has eyes on the Broncos as a possible destination if general manager John Elway decides Paxton Lynch needs another year and that Trevor Siemian isn't the guy.

Well if that's the case, I hope there is at least one other team that is very interested in his services, which in turn should drive the cap number way up.

This isnt that surprising. A team like Denver should be on the wish list of any starting FA QB. Its a playoff caliber team already, so no rebuilding. The weak link is the QB, so a QB of Romos talent Im sure would think he would massively upgrade that position and with the D already in place he would be competing for a SB right out of the gate. Hed probably be right.

Elway is competitive so I can easily see him bringing in a guy like Romo if Denver under performs the rest of the year or in the playoffs.

Just because Romo wants or thinks he wants to go there does not mean that the Donkos will want him there.

Romo is under contract for the next 3 years I believe, so the cap number is already set.

Cowboys will be on the hook for the remaining bonus, so his base will be the only number a team that trades for him will have to deal with.

"Needs another year" translation: "is a bust".
You don't sit a 1st round QB his second year unless he gives you a definite reason to or the incumbent ahead of him is a HOFer.

And yeah, if Elway wants it done, he can get it done. Horseface has proven 2 things:

1. He cannot operate a facsimile communication system.
2. He is not operating from a position of fear. He doesn't resign Damon Hutard because for 6 games he shut his eyes and chucked it in the general direction of Tony Gonzales. He doesn't resign guys that won't live up to their contract because they are "fan favorites". If he sees a guy he wants, he goes and gets them and doesn't make "safe" moves or picks.

**** Donk and Especially Elway forever, but Elway ain't scurred.
He separates the NFL men from the NFL posers.... Elways wants to win, had the drive and balls to go get it done. I agree, he isnt scared to fail or win.

Lynch might not pan out, but you can bet one thing. Elway wont quit trying to find a QB. He will take Romo for a year and not out of the question to draft another QB next year or the year after... He isnt a person that has a quest for mediocrity.

He isnt scared of success or being successful.
