Alex Smith is a solid QB, sorry haters. Bucs win 5th game in a row.
Despite the common thought here that Alex Smith held down the team Sunday, Smith's overall production to the team yesterday graded out very positive in 3 rankings:
Smith: QBR 94.1, QB rating 99, PFF 71.9
Winston: QBR 83.6, QB rating 97, PFF 50.7

This is why we should use our brains instead of repeating the garbage fed to us by Mellinger and Teicher. If Smith only had 34 plays yesterday to do something with the ball and earns both a rushing and passing TD, a FG, to 1 INT (first red zone interception since 2013) and completes an outstanding 77% of passes ... we should probably focus on the real problem yesterday: The Defense. Who didn't show up and allowed Winston/Martin to hold the ball for 35 minutes, earn 24 first downs, and convert 68% of 3rd downs (league average is 40%).

Against the Bucs...
Alex Smith: 1 INT, 99 QB rating
Philip Rivers: 2 INTs, 80 QB rating
Russell Wilson: 2 INTs, 39 QB rating
Drew Brees: 3 INTs, 49 QB rating

In the last 3 games Alex has earned opening up the offense.

No NFL HC who needs a first down to end the game would run the option. Not even Carolina.

We had Hill, Ware, and Kelcee and we didn't give the ball to any of them in the most important play of the game.

That's not on Alex...

To start, I post in a game thread that I was going to the Chiefs-Bucs game and you replied with a picture of what I think was a sniper scope and told me to move a bit to the left!!! You crazy bastard!!! You ruined my time! YOU ruined my entire trip to Kansas City. And I think you are the reason that we lost the game. Alex threw that pick in the end zone right in front of me...I had seats in the end zone a few rows up where that pic was thrown. He probably didn't want to score because he thought he may be in the line of fire...FROM YOU!!! You scared Alex Smith!!! And he threw an INT because of it!!!! Nice going!!!

Maybe it gets to a point where it's on Alex in a less, direct way.

Is Alex too scared or just too much of a good lil soldier that he can't walk up to Andy after a game and tell him to stop handicapping the team?

Would such an action push Andy into a frenzy and cut Smith? I don't know. Andy always appears rather approachable on player's thoughts.

Alex is no dummy. He has to know that Andy is hindering the offense. He's a vet QB... made millions upon millions... should he not be at a point to take the risk of having this discussion with his HC?

Alex has given speeches and spoken many times about how for anything in life... if what you are doing isn't working, then make changes.

So it baffles me why.. this set for life.. alleged SB hungry... smart QB... can't just walk right up to his H and tell him that he's being a ****ing idiot that's holding back HIS offense.

Problem is Andy just does stupid bull$#it in the moment. In-game Andy makes horrible decisions...
