Alex Smith is a solid QB, sorry haters. Bucs win 5th game in a row.

Despite the common thought here that Alex Smith held down the team Sunday, Smith's overall production to the team yesterday graded out very positive in 3 rankings:
Smith: QBR 94.1, QB rating 99, PFF 71.9
Winston: QBR 83.6, QB rating 97, PFF 50.7

https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro...-for-bucs-win/

"Smith gained positive expected points (EPA) on 77 percent of his plays on Sunday, the second-highest rate for a QB in a game this season (Dak Prescott, 83 percent versus Chicago in Week 3). Put simply, more than three-fourths of his plays contributed to the team’s scoring margin, given the context and situation." - http://www.espn.com/blog/statsinfo/p...s-excels-again

This is why we should use our brains instead of repeating the garbage fed to us by Mellinger and Teicher. If Smith only had 34 plays yesterday to do something with the ball and earns both a rushing and passing TD, a FG, to 1 INT (first red zone interception since 2013) and completes an outstanding 77% of passes ... we should probably focus on the real problem yesterday: The Defense. Who didn't show up and allowed Winston/Martin to hold the ball for 35 minutes, earn 24 first downs, and convert 68% of 3rd downs (league average is 40%).

Against the Bucs...

Alex Smith: 1 INT, 99 QB rating
Philip Rivers: 2 INTs, 80 QB rating
Russell Wilson: 2 INTs, 39 QB rating
Drew Brees: 3 INTs, 49 QB rating

Now argue why our offense has only scored 12 more points than our defense and STs.
So glad you asked... and yes.. you just did argue that which you first deny.

The offense AND defense are run on coaching philosophy.

See where I am going with this yet? need I go on?

Yep....it's never Alex's fault. Doesn't matter what happens.

Reid is holding poor Alex back. I hope for Alex's sake that he's cut by this team. Then he can go be with a real coach that will help Alex realize his full potential.

Compare games won by Alex leading us from behind to games won by either special teams or defensive play, then get back to us. You can use all four years as your litmus.

Ah. I see now that you are feeling cornered and the claws have come out.

Oh well. Was a good talk for a while. Peace out.

But that's what you're saying, right? It's not on Alex, but rather on Andy? If Andy would just call the right plays and unleash what Alex could be, then we would be in a totally different situation?

What claws would those be?

You have literally blamed EVERYONE BUT SMITH since you've been here. Oh there are times where you'll scream "BAD ALEX!" in a GDT....but other than that.....it's the offensive line's fault....or the WRs....or the RB.....and now the coach.

Bowser, blame goes all around. But as Travis Kelce is pointing out this week, the play calling has been infuriating. Pederson didn't put Smith in these one-read play situations in the end zone. The guy is a mobile QB, give him some damn freedom to make a play!

Was*. You could at least use proper tense in your pathetic excuses, bro.

The old fart is like Bledsoe these days. Except with the ability to throw deep, ofc.

How many times over the last four years has the All-22 video and stills shown Alex completely missing wide open targets to take a check down? Hell, just this last week we saw Alex throw to a covered Maclin in the end zone with Kelce running free at the 5, and Demetrius Harris all by his lonesome on the sideline with nobody for 15 yards around him.

Film doesn't lie. Facts, not fiction.

Seriously: why does anyone accept less than elite? What kind of pathetic standard do you hold in your life where a turd like Alex Whiff is good enough to lead your fave team? When your boyfriend strokes your pecker for 30 seconds, why are you so happy and thankful instead of angry that he didn't guzzle you til the end?

I'm not definitively stating this as fact... only theory.

Now that KC actuaklly does have a pass pro OL and weapons, we have now narrowed down the offenses limitation to? .... yep... QB +/or playcaller.

My theory leans heavily to Andy's philosophy holding the offense back.. from a statistical point of view.
