So you take a round of antibiotics and it kills off most of the bacteria that's causing you problems, but not all of them. Those that survive are now better equipped to fight off the antibiotics that you used, then they replicate and then their "offspring" are also better equipped to deal with said antibiotics. That can potentially create some superbugs that can't be cured by antibiotics in the future. Anyone with more knowledge on the subject can feel free to correct me but that's the explanation I've been given.. |
