Trevor Jizz named Donks starting QB

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/2...ng-quarterback

Quote:
The Denver Broncos have named Trevor Siemian as their starting quarterback, with coach Vance Joseph saying Monday that Siemian was the "clear-cut winner" in his competition with Paxton Lynch.

"We decided on making Trevor Siemian our quarterback," Joseph said. "Both guys competed hard. Both guys wanted the job. We're pleased with both guys, but overall the operation of the entire offense, decision-making, ball placement, was more consistent with Trevor. That's why he won the job."

Joseph had split work between the two quarterbacks in the offseason program, organized team activities, minicamp and training camp. Siemian and Lynch have each started one preseason game.

Siemian likely closed the deal Saturday night when he came in against the San Francisco 49ers with just over three minutes remaining in the first half and led the Broncos on a seven-play, 53-yard touchdown drive.

In three possessions, Siemian led the Broncos to 10 points, and on his touchdown pass -- a 19-yarder to Jordan Taylor -- Siemian bounced back from having a touchdown nullified by a holding penalty on the previous play.

Oh Knowmooooo... you've got some splainin to dooooo

By your comment, you would appear quite confident that Alex will have considerably better stats than Trevor in 2017. Is that the case?

Yea well when you want to bring in the money factor you can make that argument, but I wasn't thinking that technical in this hypothetical scenario. What good would the extra money do me for this season when free agency is already over? I don't think the cap roll over would be worth potentially having less than mediocre play on a team that has the talent to win it all. This hypothetical just gets silly if you want to include money.

Also, the fact that you think Alex finishing with better #'s is laughable means your expectations are too high. Alex has a much better OL and has at least proven he can have a 20+ TD's, <10 INT's, and 60% comp% type of season and get his team to the playoffs (and consistently). You're in for a reality check with Semen, I guarantee it.

The fun thing is, I don't think there's really a wrong answer here... we're talking about two QBs where little is really expected from either at this point. Big difference is time in the league.

Looking at last year as the only viable comparison point:
Trevor (8-6) compared to Alex (11-4)
One less game started
39 fewer completions on 3 fewer attempts
101 fewer passing yards
3 more TDs with 2 more INTs
an average of 10 more yards per game (243 vs 233)

Most of the wins for both teams say more about the caliber of defense, not the QB play really. Side by side comparisons say they're matched up fairly equally. We'll see if Trevor steps up or falls back.

RG3, Foles, Hoyer, Tyrod, Brock, Kap etc. have all put up Alex Smith type of individual seasons (statiscially) or even considerably better.

That didn't make them better QB's in the long run. Stop comparing a guy with such a mediocre really small sample size and mediocre stats to Alex, a guy who doesn't put up great stats, but is a consistent slightly above average NFL QB.

His ****ing ceiling is Alex Smith without the mobility. He hasn't reached that yet.

C'mon man. I know you're not this stupid and obstinate.

Denver was playing for a stalemate after they turned it over on downs in OT in Game 1. That was the BEST they could hope for. The doink doesn't really ****ing matter at that point, does it? Whether Santos makes it, misses it, or doinks it, Denver still had a 0% chance to win that game.

Kiszla: In race to be Broncos starting quarterback, Trevor Siemian wins and John Elway loses

In a quarterback competition stacked against him, Trevor Siemian emerged as the big winner. The biggest loser? John Elway.

In the race to be the Broncos’ starting quarterback, Siemian eclipsed the favorite son of Elway. Everything about the first eight months of 2017 was tilted to give Paxton Lynch every opportunity to win the job. Let us count the ways. Elway changed his coaching staff, overhauled the team’s offensive scheme and erased all of Siemian’s credit for winning eight games as a starter last season.

When Denver takes the field for the season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers and for the foreseeable future, however, Siemian will be the starter. “It’s a permanent decision,” Broncos rookie coach Vance Joseph said Monday....

...OK, for a self-described slappy, Siemian is a remarkable success story. At a salary of $615,000, Siemian also offers far greater value than the $10 million that Miami flushed down the toilet to get rudely disappointed by Jay Cutler. The Broncos can win 10 games and advance to the playoffs with Siemian. But win the Super Bowl with Siemian? Only if your dreams are painted in orange and blue.

Despite Elway’s best efforts to help him succeed, Lynch lost out because he has proved to be a dim bulb when making decisions with the football a full 16 months after the Broncos traded up to select a strong-armed prospect out of Memphis in the draft. While it might be unfair to distill Lynch’s failure to beat out Siemian down to a single play, it’s impossible to forget how Lynch failed to recognize a wide-open Demaryius Thomas crossing in front of his eyes on a third-down play against the Niners on Saturday night and instead hurled a pass into double coverage in an ill-advised and futile attempt to connect with tight end Virgil Green.

There isn't a team that would take Siemian over Alex if offered up in a trade today.

The Broncos weren't even committed to making Siemian the starter a week ago and Alex has looked better than at any point during the preseason in his career. He's also helped lead teams to the playoffs for the last few years as Siemian hasn't ever made it to the playoffs.

If a team like the Jags had this choice, they'd pick Alex 10/10 times. And his price point isn't even that much. He's the 16th highest paid QB this year.

Teams would take that because of his resume compared to Siemian.

Cool, so we'll all just agree to disagree until the sample size is bigger for Trevor.

I think T-Jizz played pretty well for a first year starter. His ceiling is definitely low, but I don't think he's gonna be terribly bad.
I think he's gonna play well enough to give the team hope you that he can be the guy and get in the way of them landing a franchise QB lol.

Trevor isn't the issue. The one in the way is Paxton.

Hey, how about you start pulling your weight around here and instigate some mod shenanigans?

For example, you can start with editing out the word "Siemian" and replacing it with "Semen." Or "Jizz."

Some unsuspecting well-meaning Denver fan trying to talk about his QB finds himself writing "Semen" whenever referring to his QB. His only other choice is to spell it wrong on purpose.

THAT'S comedy. Go make it happen. I didn't vote for you so you could chum it up with Bowser in the mod forum.
