Which is why we didn't play good defense.

He ripped us last time. We got tore up by the ****ing Jets last week WITH Peters.

Anyone paying attention was nervous about this game...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Carr ripped us up last time because he threw a bunch of jump balls mostly at mitchell. Lots of deep yards and a ton of mostly bullshit dpi that game. Mitchell and Sutton played it much better today. Mitchell looked great. Peters wasn't all world but he was far from the reason we lost last time. So it's silly to think him not being there was the x factor today.

It was a great lesson for him to watch from the bench. But let's not lead this delusion that Peters is anywhere close to our biggest problem on defense or that we're better off without him.

So you're saying the only reason Carr ripped us last time was he completed a ton of deep passes and our D gave up a ton of DPI calls?

Ok.

That means Carr played well and our D played like shit. The exact opposite of the point you were making...

You can rewatch the game if you want. Carr last game basically stepped back and chucked up 50/50 balls all game long. Didn't even read our defense. It's not like he was making great throws or making great reads. He threw up prayer balls and our secondary stumbled all over themselves. It's the same formula Philly used against us in an otherwise solid defensive performance. Rest of the season after Pittsburgh? Different story. We got torched in different ways.

Today, our defense kept the passing game in front of us. I didn't see what our big adjustment was but that was the big X factor. We took away the big play on defense. And those big plays for the most part were not in Peters' direction last game. Unless you're going to blame Peters for Mitchell not defending a jump ball. I don't think our D with or without Peters is in very good shape. This was a good D performance today but we've usually been pretty good against Carr. So no, I don't know how Peters was an X factor given that he was not a big reason why we lost to Oakland the first time.

Collectively from a subconscious level for our defense, it was a relief to them they didn't have to worry about a baby losing it's diaper defecating all over itself as well as on everyone else today

It did make a difference today he was not out there.

Yeah, that mental stress of worrying about Marcus Peters is what made our defense play like shit all season.

Quack!
