I will say this:
I get being pissed about the Chiefs trading Peters b/c he's an elite, young, cost-controlled player at a premium position, and it's nigh impossible to get commensurate value for those players.

I don't think they wanted to pay Marcus Peters 18 mill so you play out his next 2 years and take your comp pick you don't trade him for a ****ing hot dog.

Clark Hunt doesn't care about winning. Looking forward to this idiot ruining the Mahomes era.

Rapaport: Peters trade not believed to include first-round pick
"As far as why the Chiefs want to get rid of him though, there are a couple reasons as well. Last year, he was suspended for his actions on-field. There was also getting into it with an assistant coach after the game last year when he got the suspension. In the locker room, there was certainly some issues the Chiefs wanted to solve, and they believe they did so by sending him elsewhere. There was also some concern inside the building about whether or not they wanted to pay Marcus Peters long-term, and from what I understand, Andy Reid, the head coach, was really not on board with Peters as a player and off the field -- owner Clark Hunt the same way. When those guys are not on board with keeping a guy and making sure he's part of their future, it is best to send him elsewhere, and that is what the Chiefs did for a package of picks not believed to be a first-rounder." |

Exactly as I had stated since the new broke. Clark Hunt wasn't going to be comfortable paying Peters 5 years, $90 million with $38-40 guaranteed. |

I was on the biggest trade Peters bandwagon when he starting sitting during the anthem but if they don't get a 1st then that is one of the worst trades in NFL history.

It doesn't really matter that he didn't want to be here. He didn't have any leverage at all aside from holding out. The team had years of control left.
So if they didn't make an absolute killing on this trade (and it could be argued that even if they do...), they completely screwed the pooch on multiple levels, by not scouting him properly, by not handling him properly, by really not doing anything well at any point. You can point any fingers you want at him over the anthem bullshit or his on field antics, but they're supposed to figure those kind of issues ahead of time. They spend millions and millions and millions. The problem I see here is primarily with the front office, and with Reid, who we know is heavily involved on the personnel side. It worries me, and I think it should worry everyone. I don't see how anybody can possibly spin this in a positive way, unless we're getting historic compensation. |
