A psa from players saying "don't be an asshole" to people who are different is not a bad idea for the NFL.
PC culture has nothing to do with making us a more tolerant society.

That's putting the cart before the horse.

IT's like saying gentrification ends poverty. PC culture seeks to mask and hide prejudice behind new words that are more palatable. It's nothing more than the gentrification of language.

No but the push for equality has been beneficial. PC culture is an unfortunate consequence of that push. I'm just pointing to the hypocrisy of longing for times of "moral fiber" when that consisted of hate speech, discrimination, and exclusion. Nothing moral or Christian about any of that. Our society has made tremendous leaps in many ways. And in some ways we've gone too far. Net net we are still better off.

Pushing for equality and pushing for equity are different things and I think you and a lot of others are confusing social justice with political correctness. Political correctness is a linguistic and rhetorical tool, not a value system.

PC is about language. It's not about being nice or tolerant. It's about saying "people of color' and smearing anyone who uses out of date language as a bigot or hate preacher. It's used to assert power and demonize opponents for not being up to date on what is/isn't deemed offensive language. The language, not the ideas, are the focus. Use the wrong language, you're a bigot. There is zero concern put towards intent or context. Just cherry picking words that have been socially blacklisted and shaming people who don't use them.

That's not making us more tolerant. It's just making us more afraid to engage each other in fear of misspeaking and having your reputation destroyed.

It is, quite literally, language gentrification. Hiding the bad behind a veil of nice sounding words. Just like you hide the poor people behind a new whole foods.

There's a whole lot of truth to this. Especially the equality versus equity point.

Equal rights movement, for all minorities (whether race or sexual orientation), somewhere went astray, and people forgot the original mission (being seen as "no different" than the man/woman standing next to them).

Now, you have college campuses with "black centers", "latino centers", "LGBTQ centers", etc.

Isnt that entirely in the opposite direction of the intentions of the people who started equality movements?

Much like the gay marriage issue - once laws were passed allowing gay couples to marry, from that day on, it should just be "marriage" (as every marriage under that law is seen equally).

But unfortunately, much like everything else these days - these minority groups are politicized, and are pawns for voting agendas, etc.
