Others mentioned I should start this thread in my other thread. And while I won't have the new car for a while, I'd like to hear some thoughts and recommendations so I can have most of it on hand before the car shows up. My other thread had a lot of great posts in it and you guys have been a big help.

While black cars looks great clean, keeping it relatively clean in Phoenix might be the death of me. But I'll sure as shit give it my best shot.

I actually like cleaning and waxing our current cars but it's not like I am being meticulous about it. I've never had a car with rims either and I know those can get dirty quick. I've never owned a dark colored car and I've never had a car with leather. I plan to take really good care of this car and would like some tips on doing so. But I'm just a ****ing n00b.

I'll throw some links out from Amazon as I mention things.

1. Not sure if everyone recommends

wool wash mitt over micorfiber here but many people I know do?

2. Grit guard and two wash buckets. One for rinse and one for soap/water.

Some mention that after washing you should use a paint cleanser before waxing. But wondering if washing then clay baring is sufficient prior to wax?

I've seen this P21S Paintwork Cleanser mentioned on a few reads. Looks like good use for water spots and swirls prior to waxing if needed. Not sure if you would do entire car first or just use it for bad spots before waxing?

Also, a company called Zaino has great reviews and recommendations. They have a package that looks like it includes all products I'd need together including wash, polish, wax, leather and tire care.

I do not have a polisher and would need to get one of those as well but not sure where to start on that front.

How about this Cayman?
These pics were taken May 20+21, 2006 and I drove the Cayman GTR 987, (a 295-hp, 3.4-liter flat-six) the day before the below Spyder won American Lemans at Mid Ohio. Bad ass ride and since I have an SLK I liked the smaller size.

Nice pics.

Have been looking at the turbo 996 but also annoyed with them still holding their value so much for a car that old and have the headlight look problem. The racing Metzger engine and a manual has some appeal.

Really like the Cayman but haven't driven one and seems to have the problem of Porche nutering them to not intrude on the 911. The GT4 being an exception and they are also appreciating in cost.

Competely agree. Its just discourgaing to see people talking about cost of a 10 year old C4S on a message board from 5 years ago and it cost less then. A 997 Turbo with a manual is really what I'd love but those things havent dropped in cost since I last priced them in 2012.

People swear by the California Duster but I have no experience. The other option is drive REALLY FAST.

1.) buy a cover

2.) hit it with the leaf blower or take it for a drive

3.) just hit it with the power washer with rinse water only (or take it to one of those self spray car washes and just use the spot free rinse) the take it out on the freeway and let most of the water blow itself off, then just microfiber/detailer the back and around the wheels.

nah, seriously though, the leaf blower works pretty well. no water....just dry on dry

These seem like suggestions from someone owning a white car would say.

How are you liking the M2? Very rarely see them around.

I actually saw a black one the other day. Some milftaco was driving it. I couldn't get her attention though.

I reelly like the M2 size being what the current M3 should really be. Seems like the real drivers car the now larger M4 should be. DCT?

Love that car. And white’s ok I guess but pretty boring. Does it have metallic flecks in it? My wife’s SUV does and it’s actually really pretty when clean.
