Earl Thomas a longshot to be a Chief

They just said on ESPN we were on the list of teams that he could be dealt to.

It's a question. I don't know the answer to your question so I posed one of my own.
All I can say is I can't think of a single 30 year old defensive player who was traded for a 1st rounder and given big money.

If Veach thinks it's worth the shot so be it. That a ton of $ to be spent on the safety position and unlike you I believe there is a salary cap effect.

Reid is suing the league. Kneeling, at this point, is the least of his issues.

The salary cap has never stopped other teams from signing people and winning Super Bowls. Like ever.

Well obviously no team that won a SB was stopped by the salary cap, but it's a flat out lie to say many teams have been blown apart and lost players due to the salary cap.

If the cap doesn't exist in any real form why isn't Seattle just paying Thomas his extension? Is a SB winning owner coach and front office just too dumb to make it work?

You seem to be having it both ways with this situation.

There's a difference between a team that already went all-in and one that hasn't yet.

The Chiefs have $11M in cap space and could get Earl Thomas under that without any issue whatsoever.

The only barrier is the trade compensation.

Could be interesting. Doesn't sound like Seattle really wants to move him though. If we get him I'll be stoked.

According to overthecap and spotrac we have between $7M and $8M in cap space.

No. Your numbers are wrong.

The Chiefs would have to sign him and give him a new multi-year deal to get under the cap.

Whoever trades for him is going to give him a multi-year deal. The whole reason he's holding out is because he wants a multi-year deal.

And if the number is $7M, that's still VERY doable. It's all about "want to".

yeah okay but that's a different thing than I was arguing against. His current deal is 10m a year.

I want them to do it, just to be clear.

I'd trade for Ed Reed's brother to replace Eric Murray at this point.
