Earl Thomas a longshot to be a Chief

They just said on ESPN we were on the list of teams that he could be dealt to.

I've heard the only thing holding this up is Veachs refusal to send a 6 pack of nati light back.

And I don't blame him. We have to have standards not just as an organization, but as fans as well.

What a surprise, Seattle getting uppity about their microbrews again.

Fine, include three conditional 22s of some rare IPA nobody has heard of outside the Pacific NW.

That's a valid and VERY effective defense, when your players can tackle. I know people hate it and want him to be more aggressive but he's actually making the smarter call. Players just cannot execute.

3) He has to. Our corners can't makeup ground. If you miss the jam at the line on 3rd and short (and our corners do), that's a touchdown.

I know people hate Bob Sutton but I've been watching zone defenses on the college and pro levels for 35 years. He's not stupid and these problems are absolutely being cause by a lack of talent.
So? It's eventually going to be a td anyway. If they bring pressure maybe they force a bad pass or get a sack and get off the field

1) I agree completely. I've long complained about Reid being this teams biggest enemy when they get a big lead early. It happens to a lot of teams but Reid's teams seem to be especially flat. The offense goes vanilla and full of 3 and outs and the defense stops attacking. Teams like NE (of previous seasons) have no problems running up the score until it's safe to let off the throttle. We do it at half time....regularly.

2) I don't agree. Not all teams run soft zones 3rd and long. Bad defenses do. You won't see a Wade Phillips defense do this. You won't see great defenses do this.

3) He doesn't have to. The defensive talent says otherwise. Hell, Peters played off man coverage a ton. You can't have a good pass rush if you give up 5 yard+ quick passes every down because your corners play soft.

I've hated Sutton before he was brought here and he hasn't given me a reason not to. He needs multiple star players to field a decent defense. This team should have fired him and moved from to the 4-3 because their talent was better equipped for it.

Do Reid/Veach view this as a developmental year for Mahomes fully knowing that the defense is below average? Given Mahomes is lighting it up and the playoffs look very attainable will they be tempted to change course? The fanbase will riot if Chiefs lose their first playoff game because of a defensive collapse.
I think the holdup is simply because Seattle is asking for too much.

I think they did view it that way but I assume that has changed. No one could have predicted this start by him. This is a Superbowl quality offense. I think the Chiefs will make some moves to shore up the defense but I don't know if it will be ET.

The outcry from a defensive collapse in the playoffs would make "Save Our Chiefs" look like a light argument.
