Earl Thomas a longshot to be a Chief

They just said on ESPN we were on the list of teams that he could be dealt to.

Cause that’d be just as dumb as saying that they think they’ll blow the pick.

But one is much more likely than the other, and we all know which one.
I think they don’t want to give up a 1st rd pick and will wait this out until 10/30 to try to do that.

No. I'd rather them do what they're doing now and let it play out a bit more. Thomas isn't a win now move. It's a win in January move. We don't need him to win right now.

Understandable, but when 10/30 comes, they’d better give that 1st up.

Let’s just lay it out there in simple terms:

Player A: 2019 first round draft choice, let’s say he’s pick 28 after the Chiefs have lost a playoff game (just a random guess).

Player B: Earl Thomas with a 4-year contract extension

Which guy is going to give you the best chance to win the championship with a roster that’s locked and loaded right now? It’s not even a debate.

If that pick even turns out to be a good player, he still likely won’t give you Earl’s production for the next several years.

Spent the last year and a half talking about how we needed to take advantage of Mahomes’ rookie deal. This move is a prime example of that.

I’m warming up to it, especially if we have two 2nd rd picks.

Hoping it’s for a 2nd and future 3rd.

Cause that’d be just as dumb as saying that they think they’ll blow the pick.

But one is much more likely than the other, and we all know which one.
That thought process is flawed as the Raiders saying we don’t want to pay Mack so we’ll trade him and hope we get Bosa who could be Mack

I’m not keen on giving up a first round pick though, especially since he could be a rental. I’d do a 2nd rounder and try to sign him long term.

My guess is that Seattle wants our first because they’re looking at this offense and figuring out that there is no way in hell that our 2nd round pick is going to be high at all. Add in Earl Thomas and it gets lower.

You don’t make the trade unless it comes with a contract extension, and that’s what Earl will want anyways
