As long as we continue to win with our offense performing at the SB level, Hawks have the leverage and Veach will cave IMHO because he knows to win that SB he needs just a few more stops IMHO. Sucks to lose those high picks though so as to shore up our D for the future BUT we do have the "MYHOMEY effect" in play for years so that helps!!

I'm rooting for the Cardinals today. Both to knock the Cubs out of the division race (assuming Brewers win) and for Arizona to beat Seattle to knock it into Seattle's head they need to trade ET yesterday and go into full tank mode.

If those high picks net them more Kpass' and Speaks' the defense is screwed. There is no future.

Your answer to the recent history of draft failures is "well, we're going to blow them anyway so might as well trade them." I'm more along the lines of "Veach better start drafting better immediately or he needs to be looking for a new job." We shouldn't be so eager to jettison 2nd rounders just because of a couple misfires.

When the team is ready to win right now, this year, that absolutely should figure in to the equation. If they're going to take their chances this year with what they have in order to not sacrifice the future, that future HAS to be successful and so far we have no indication they can make it so.

We play a lot of single high which is why Earl Thomas has been so successful in Seattle. He's the best centerfielder in the game and it's probably not even close.

Dude, you must think the bigger picture here like I said, we will potentially lose the SB because of our 2ndary(not the season) and Veach wants to ensure the best he can that we don't.

Like some on this board, I do agree that Veach/Reid see this as a 2015 Royals run and immediately recognized this once their assumptions about PM2 and his comprehension/execution of the playbook utilizing all weapons, putting up points and wins has been confirmed.
