What's wrong with the Bob Sutton scheme?
Set the talent level aside for a second. The scheme itself I contend is bunk. It appears to be a complete read & react defense. Sutton seems to "play not to lose" from a defensive aspect. Turnovers are what his scheme hinges on.

It just appears to be an indecisive scheme. Afraid to commit to attack the run or pass on any given play. It's like he's afraid to run blitz because it may not be a run. He's afraid to pass blitz because they may run the ball. His zone scheme does not seem to call for defenders manning up on offensive players in their zone.

I just can't get a read on what it is he is trying to do. It looks like he is trying to defend against everything all the time. It doesn't really come off that much different than the RAC 3-4.

He did; a lot of overloads, a lot of stunting in the front 7 to create pressure. Jones lined up at DE in the 3-3-5 and got pressure with a 3 man rush; also had him wide at the end in overloads. DBs played close and tight.

Of course, the key was : tackling and coverage.

Tackling was SO much better and the coverage was OUTSTANDING.

Yep. A much more aggressive scheme tonight. Much more like Sutton's style.

Besides the 12 men on the field twice, a really good game. It was like they actually wanted to go out and hit someone.

Far more aggressive scheme from Sutton. More overloads, more man-press, fewer 3 man rushes.

FAR better execution from the guys. Speaks showed up again.
