I don't think so. Not every move/contract is going to work out. At best you try to put the odds in your favor.

I would much rather give a contract to a Houston/Berry, where you have a player that played for KC on an undervalued contract, got their contract, and still gave it their all even if it was cut short by injury.

Compare that to signing a free agent from another team to a big contract who shows up just to collect the money and gets fat and lazy. That sucks more and reflects more poorly on the GM.

I would rather sign Tyreek to a contract that sucks because he gets injured and never plays up to it than a free agent that turns out lazy.

At least you would have paid money to someone who really helped the team out, even if it was in the past instead of the future.

I realize that either way it sucks to have a high priced player sitting on the sideline, but that is still my take.

Even the laziest of fatties makes a couple of plays in a season. Berry hasn't done anything at all for almost 2 years.
