I have a theory that she was taking video that Kareem didn't want to go public, for whatever reason. So they took her phone and booted her. Now everyone is in a pickle. She won't leave without her phone, and they won't give it back because they can't trust her to delete the stuff. Neither side wants to call security and escalate it, so Kareem came out to seek peace. Remember afterward when she claimed that they took the sim card out of her phone? It's pretty obvious what was happening.

I kind of wonder who eventually did call security. Was it one of the two parties? A guest in another room?

The sad truth is probably that Kareem could've called security without repercussions. He was a prominent guest. That type of guest can pull security aside and say, "Hey, she's a crazy. Can you just send her home? We don't want any trouble." Even if she called the police afterwards and claimed that her phone was taken, that would give you time to destroy the phone or at least get it out of the room where you can destroy with a hammer at your leisure the next day. But Kareem was too inexperienced to know that he likely held sway with the hotel in a dispute with a bar chick.
