Brady hasn't won a road playoff game since he was 29.

30-40 years of Miami home field games may be enough data to have a relevant sample. If someone did that, I suspect they would see the weather as a real factor for teams like New England that are really not used to it. So, I disagree on your assertions here. Close losses in September in Florida I highly suspect have a lot to do with the miserable weather. I have heard too many players complain. Granted both teams have to play with it but one team has been practicing and playing in it for a very long time. Like many Patriots fans I have gone to their training camps and even the dog days of summer in New England are just no preparation for what you can face in September in Miami. And the thing is, you can say the Patriots or some other team failed to make this play or that play but as someone familiar with breathing difficulties, miserable weather can make anyone a little more lazy since they are dog tired. Probably changes how teams even coach with more zone. You gotta remember not only are football players running around and hitting but they are playing with pads. I sucked at football but still played in high school. I got in very good shape for football but its kind of impossible to convince me that climate doesn't give the home teams advantages in extreme circumstances when the opponent isn't use to it. Patriots when its frigid and playing a warm weather team, Miami when its hot in Sept and Denver - especially against non division opponents -- all have really nice home field advantages. Notice how when the Patriots actually lose home field playoff games its usually against teams that are at least somewhat used to dealing with cold weather and rarely to hot weather teams. After all these years, I don't see that as a coincidence. It is the reason BB has the Patriots practicing in the elements quite often. Now obviously any HFA based upon weather/climate won't make up for trash teams. But I suspect if one could truly look at the averages over a super long time with a big enough sample set -- probably tough to do that for truly hot games in Miami --, the data would back this up. |

Of course but c'mon...Hypothetical. It's 30-28 Pats in the 4th qtr. Mahomes is driving the team. 4th and 12 and Reid goes for it and Gilmore get flagged for PI for admittingly to every fan that knows football says it was the worst call of all -time. Didn't touch him. Y'all kick a FG to win. You are going to the SB. We go home.
I think you'll sleep just fine...and you deserve to. |

I hear you. I also played football and wearing pads in July, Aug and early Sept sucks. Its the worst. But if you are properly conditioned, hydrated, ge your rest and play well, you'll win. |

Patriots had 10 days to prepare for KC in Oct...and it was Mahomes first prime time NFL game.
Belichick threw the kitchen sink at him...I'd be really surprised if there is a lot of "unscouted" looks. BB will have some wrinkles but wont be reinventing the wheel... I think it's very advantageous for the Chiefs...to have seen them already this year in a big time national game. The fact it's at home vs. Foxborough is a huge difference... Chiefs will be starting Berry...which is huge. Shaw gave up that long completion to Gronk...and he's no longer on the team. |
