You are underestimating the significance of the moves Veach is going to make to bolster this roster.

I'm not underestimating anything. You were talking about signing Xavien Howard AND Earl Thomas.

They're not signing Xavien Howard AND anybody. He wants to be the highest paid CB in the league. And yes, they can prorate bonuses and all that (which all teams do BTW) but it isn't going to lessen the blow. Signing Xavien Howard isn't going to happen.

This is going to be a buyers market for safeties. Just like last offseason. Lots of supply and GMs don’t covet safeties like they used to.

These aspects are going to impact his per year average.

Harrison Smiths first year cap hit was only 7m.

Fullers first year cap hit was 6.5m

Veach can literally make enough 2019 cap space to sign Howard and Thomas by restructuring Houston and converting everything but vet minimum of his base salary to a bonus and pushing that amount to next year.

Veach is going to go all in. I’m telling you he’s going to.

Veach will sign a top tier guy at CB and safety...and maybe another move.

And still have space to tag Ford.

That's why i'd target one of the guys under contract for a while or Ramsey who you could have for 3 years without a big deal.

15 average. Fuller got 14 average.

IMO we need as many guys that take the ball away as possible.

11 picks in 17 games is incredibly valuable when we have a guy like Mahomes getting that ball back.
