Greatest movie franchises of all time
With Endgame on the horizon, I started thinking about how the MCU compares to the other great franchises over the years. So...what are the best ones of all time? We'll generate a giant list then put it through a Rain Man style poll series in the Lounge (probably seeded by box office or something like that).
Here's the current list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing Last edited by DaFace; 04-05-2019 at 11:49 AM.. |

Godfather 1 and 2 are the best movies on almost any list.

For me, I think the MCU has to be at the top just in terms of quality, volume, and consistency. I'm not sure they'll be able to keep it going forever like the Bond movies, but who knows?
I think I'd put the LOTR movies at #2 for me just because of how huge they are. Not sure what to think of Star Wars. It's clearly one of the most impactful franchises of all time, but man...they've had some clunkers in there. |

I guess the Jack Ryan movies should be added, although in truth only Hunt for Red October and Clear and Present Danger are really the only notable ones.

I may be laughed out of the room here, and I'm not really a fan.
But... For what they are (dumb, popcorn, action flicks), should the Fast and Furious franchise be on the list? Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk |

1) Sherlock Holmes w/ Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce.
2) Tarzan series w/ Johnny Weissmuller and Maureen O'Sullivan 3) Classic Mysteries w/ Humphrey Bogart (The Big Sleep, Dark Passage, Key Largo, The Maltese Falcon, etc.) See Footnote. Footnote: I think #3 should count. FAX THE FOOTNOTER |

In line with FAX's line of thinking I am going to toss out a few older movie "franchises"
The Hammer Horror series; Dracula, Frankenstein, and Mummy Eastwood's "Man With No Name" Series of Westerns And of course, one of the longest running movie franchises; Godzilla.

Normally I would say Star Wars but Star Wars has sucked for 39 years

Hmm. In no particular order, off the top of my head:
Sergio Leone's "Man with No name," series Indiana Jones Alien Die Hard Superman Terminator Friday the 13th Rocky Lethal Weapon Austin Powers Hannibal Lecter Back to the Future There's lots more. These are just the ones I can think of off the bat. |
