(No, I'm not whining about rep... just making an observation)

Before the thumb up/down feature, I noticed I got a lot more feedback on my posts through rep. And since it's been in place, I noticed that more people are clicking thumb up/down on my posts than they would click for rep, which means I don't receive rep or rep comments nearly as often.

Do you find this to be true for you? Have you noticed yourself giving a thumb/up down more often than you would have given rep in the past?

I consider the thumbs as a sort of mini-rep. Not as good as regular rep, but better than nothing at all.

They're sort of the handjob of rep.

I didn't give out too much rep in the first place, but it's a whole lot easier to thumbs up a post. I will thumbs down a BEP post every time I can because she ****ing sucks, so that's a little more convenient than negging her. If you get a post that has like 12+ thumbs up then that's how you know it was something that would have usually got you a ton of rep in the good ol' days.

Obviously I don’t spend a ton of time here, so my experience is different than a more regular member. That being said, before the thumbs I very rarely gave rep. When I did, it was almost always positive. Now that the thumbs exist, I NEVER give rep. What’s interesting though, is that I give thumbs down more often than thumbs up, the complete opposite of my rep experience.

I tend to thumbs down posts that are so bad/awful that I don’t want them seen by the general public, so I hope other people will hop on board. For example, anytime that GloryDayz guy posts in the science thread, easy thumbs down.

I give thumbs down to any post that calling out a Q/repost on the previous poster. That's just bad manners.

Why do we need three separate ways to leave feedback on posts?

Also tell me, if I quote a post and comment on that post and also give that same post a thumbs up/down, and also give that same post positive/neg rep, would that be overkill?
