Who's expendable from the likely 53 man roster?

The free agent frenzy is over.
The draft is over.

So now have a better idea of what the 2019 Chiefs will look like, let's see who's on the roster that COULD be spun for other players or future picks.

Now the key to this exercise is that the player has to have real value. Reggie Ragland isn't going to fetch us anything.

So who do you got?

Daniel Sorensen - 29 years old, two years left on his deal at 3.6 million per.

Breeland Speaks - 23 years old, three years left on his rookie deal. Yeah I know he's more of a natural fit in the 4-3, but after looking at the draft, adding Clark and a couple other DEs, I don't see expanded playing time on the horizon. Probably our most desirable asset to move, but someone has to want him.

Tanoh Kpassagnon - 24 years old, same situation with Speaks if we are being honest. Two years left on his deal.

I could see Kemp gone too. Assuming Pringle can be a gunner on special teams who watches the ball bounce just out of reach into the end zone, I think it's at worst a wash.

I think the OP already outlined the possible assets we have that we can trade now.

The next best thing that can happen if we keep all of those players is that we do something at training camp cut time.

Veach last year turned Parker Ehinger into a starting CB for us. Yes, it's still not clear if he's a good or a bad starting CB, but that's way more valuable than keeping Ehinger, who had lost the LG job to Erving anyway.

I'd look to try the same thing at training camp cut time. Find a team who is insanely deep at TE or LB or even CB again, and offer them some interior OL help (we've got a logjam of guys there right now) in exchange for the talented training camp scrub they have to release and whom they believe they have no shot at sneaking on to their own practice squad.

What about trading Xavier Williams?

Not sure he’ll see much playing time this year with some of the guys we picked up. He’s still pretty young and has a fairly low cap number. I’m sure someone will need the DL depth.

Darrrel Williams and Kpass are probably history, barring vast improvement over last year. I think X. Williams is safe. Depending on what we see from the UDFA LBs, Ragland could be somewhere else come opening day. We're not moving any D backs or WRs just yet.

None of the guys we would want to trade(Kpass, Speaks, etc)have any value beyond maybe a day 3 pick. At best they’re throw ins with a high pick to get a player we want or like someone said, maybe an Ehringer for Ward deal where the player we get back is mostly unknown but could potentially turn into someone.

I don't know about this and not just because I like Kemp.

We have nobody else his size. He's 6'4. Why not let Josh Crockett go before Kemp? It's not like we have a cap issue now or moving forward.

KPass was a terrible pick he did exactly nothing. The only difference between him and Kei'varie Russell is KPass is still on the team. If he doesn't assert himself in camp he needs to go.

I think Crockett is on the practice squad and not the roster, no?

If we carry 8 DL, Ogbah and KPass are fighting for a spot. Think Speaks is safe as a Veachy pick. Same with X. Williams and Hamilton.
