Maybe I guess, but personally I don't believe anything I hear from the news until it becomes a proven fact. It's a sad reality, but the "news" isn't news anymore. A lot of it is just glamorized gossip.

Sadly, you are right. These days its becoming more and more apparent that you can't trust anything reported in the news. Weather is about the only thing left you can kind of trust.
