I'd see if you could trade for a backup from somewhere now.

Oh wouldya now?

1) Of course you would. If there's a way to trade for someone, water boy included, you're gonna do it.

2) Why? I mean unless you're going after Chase Daniel, any QB you bring in here is going to have to learn the system from the ground up without the benefit of any sort of training camp period. The odds of a 'veteran backup' who's never operated in Andy's system being better than Litton are pretty remote.

As for Daniel....ugh - I really don't have much interest in paying him $4 million. And the Bears would give him to us for a 7th in all likelihood given that he appears to be a likely cut candidate.

Nah, I'd let him get cut and offer him something like $1-2 million to return. Then I'd probably cut Henne with an injury settlement as I think Daniel's probably a better option here anyway. But I wouldn't give $4 million for him.

Daniel was my first choice. I don't like paying that, but it is what it is. They can't go into the year with Litton or Shurmur as the backup.

If Mahomes goes down for something long term, fine, throw one of them out there. It wouldn't matter.

But if it's a game or a half, they need someone respectable.

Yeah, they really can.

I mean, not Shurmer - he sucks.

But Litton can sling it. Yeah, you'll see more turnovers than you'd like but if you give him a little time and the same weapons Pat works with and he can give you 17-21 PPG; some rando 'veteran' isn't likely to give you any more than that.

Litton's a genuine NFL caliber thrower - he just needs to work on the 'passer' part of it. Andy can work with that.

Maybe.

Seeing as they seem to have Shurmer in front of him though, I dunno that Litton would be the guy they keep.

Sounds like good a plan. I'm in.

I agree, there's absolutely no reason to trade for any QB. I'm also in agreement that Daniel would be the only vet we should consider and I wouldn't pay him $4M. It's time to fish or cut bait with our backup QBs.

How in the hell did Henne get hurt? Did he kick the bench after his miserable performance Saturday? Did we miss the cart off while Ari and Trent were BSing with Donovan?

At this point, I think you have to keep Ogbah on the roster. See how severe the Speaks injury is and maybe put him on IR Designated.
