Annual Eat Crow Thread - 2019 Edition

This one will feel better because we're freaking SUPER BOWL CHAMPS (That never gets old)

But we all have some crow to eat.

I don't remember too many flaming hot takes I had but here goes:

Frank Clark - He did suck ass when I was saying it, but dude earned his money. Well done, sir.

Spagnoulo - I didn't go crazy flaming the guy, but I didn't really like the hire. Especially when we were soft bitches against the AFCS.

Mathieu - Again, I wasn't flaming the guy, but I've never thought this guy was the answer at anything. All the way back to college. Wrong-o Douche! This guy also earned that money. Couple that with the article about Reid and Spags turning over the leadership keys to him, my goodness. Dude earned that shit.

Reid - I've always appreciated Reid, specifically because we came from the Squimin Herman Mother****ing Sack of **** Edwards/Scott Franchise Killer Pioli eras. But I didn't think he could get it done. Too much loyalty. Too many management errors that will get you beat. Too much Because Chiefs. Load that plate up!

CB group in general - I thought these guys would get us beat. YUM

Other Football Crow

Lamar Jackson - I didn't think he'd be as effective as he was. I still think it's a losing proposition, but he deserves some credit I didn't give him.

Dorsey - Maybe it's not all his fault, but I figured he'd make something work there. Obviously there is some level of it's not me, it's you thing going.

Kliff Kingsbury - I know it's a long way from actually doing anything but I thought there was a fair chance he'd be justifiably fired by midseason. He may still end up being nothing, but he made it farther than I'd have guessed.

Drew Lock - At least looks competent out there. That's far different than I expected.

What do you guys have. I'm sure there is a lot of crow to eat. Load up boys!

I underestimated the power of Mahomes and thought Reid would never win a SB. I still feel like this was more on Mahomes than it was Reid because Reid scripts the first however many plays and in each playoff game it put us in a hole that someone like Alex Smith would have never gotten out of. But congrats, Andy. No players ever say anything bad about him and he's one of the most liked guys in the game, so well deserved.

Really though, I wasn't flaming much too hard, except when Clark was sucking taint. But he deserved it. Most of those other ones were just internally held positions. I try not to get too far out on shit that I don't know about.

There were some other things I was pretty right on. TIME OF POSSESSION for one, a bunch of stupid ****s have to eat a mountain of crow on that one. I wasn't out here clamoring for upgrades at RB like a bunch of mother****ers were. I wasn't second guessing Matt Moore.

I'm sure there are a bunch of little stuff that I don't remember, but I'm honest about what I post here.

Erving sucks, but I like the guy. Dude will straight fight fools if they mess with his guys and he's the biggest cheerleader on the team.

It sure is a shame he can't, you know, block.

I'm right here with you on this one. I talked shit about the fisher pick and for several years it looked like fisher was almost a bust or at least not a 'hit.' I can't help but feel like still maybe we couldve done better with the 1.1 but I am OK with it (obviously) now...

so tl/dr:

I was not OK with the fisher pick for YEARS but now I am. So serve me up some crow.

The biggest fails were from guys caught up in emotion during the game day threads. Best to give yourself time to reflect before posting off emotion.

For me:

Damien Williams-I liked him, but I thought he would be replaced by Darwin Thompson by the end of the year.

Linebackers-I was very pessimistic about this group. They were never great, but they became serviceable. Excited to see what House can do once we invest in the position.

Kendall Fuller-I was very low on him. He seemed to always be very close to making plays, but would still get beat. He transitioned to safety very well. Hope we can bring him back.

I had doubts about Andy, Veach, Spags, Frank Clark, Damien Williams, Tyreek being a legit #1 WR initially after Maclin was suddenly released a few years ago.

But I never doubted Mahomes.

Didn’t vocally disclose a whole lot of doubts but I definitely had my fits about the defense in October. I wrote off guys like Khalen Saunders and KPass back then too (thanks Daly).
