VARSITY
We need a simple three-question test to ward off bandwagon fans.

We know what's going to happen. A bunch of 'patriots fans' and 'broncos fans' and 'packers fans' and 'steelers fans' are going to start buying Chiefs stuff and pretending that they're one of us. We need a way to identify these people quickly. I propose that we develop a standard three-question test that we administer to determine whether we're dealing with an actual Chiefs fan versus a bandwagon fake fan.

The questions need to be questions that a person of any age can answer, so they probably shouldn't be about obscure events of the far past. And they need to be questions that a somewhat casual Chiefs fan could answer even if they're not a hardcore fan like us.

I propose the following. Let me know if you can answer them, and whether you're a legitimate fan or a bandwagon fan. We can adjust the questions if they're too easy or too hard. You can also propose alternatives.

My three proposed questions are:

1. Name at least two Chiefs players who died during their playing career.

2. In the final 2017 preseason game against the Titans, Patrick Mahomes II completed three long passes to this receiver, including an epic rollout that many believe to be his formal unveiling. Who was the receiver?

3. What two teams did Joe Montana's Chiefs defeat in the 1993 playoffs?

I feel that any legitimate Chiefs fan will know the answer to these questions, though I wonder if Q2 is a little too difficult. Thoughts?

My plan is that any time a person comes up to you and starts talking Chiefs, you administer this quiz to determine if they're worthy of your time or not.

Name the greatest Chief ever. Answer: MR. Willie Lanier, although other acceptable answers are any HoF member of the 1969 team plus Otis Taylor and DT. No, Mahomes is not acceptable until he wins another SB. That'll keep the keep the riff-raff out! And no stupid questions involving track and field accomplishments. This is about football.

As unfortunate as it is to say this, I hope that you all realize there are a large number of fans that do not know or remember most things about the Chiefs, the games or the players after each game let alone after any length of time.

1. What team did Mahomes face in his first regular season start?

2. Do you think Matt Cassel graded out perfectly?

3. Has a Chiefs RB ever been on the cover of Madden?

Damned straight it does!

I had a 67 fastback (think of the movie "Bullet") and then I bought a 1983 5.0 Mustang.

I'll never forget driving from Fort Hood to Dallas to pick up an investigator. I was cruising along at about 110 and a state trooper (who also drove a 5.0) pulled me over. We stood at the side of the road and talked about that version of the Mustang for probably 20 minutes.

He still gave me a ticket for going 80 MPH.....

Today? I'm an old man who drives a pickup RAM 1500

This sucks. I've been a hard core Chiefs fan probably longer than the majority on this site and I think I could only answer one of these

Those with 1 answer:

1. Harrison Butker led the NFL in FG’s this year. Who was the last Chief to lead the NFL in FG’s?

2. Who is the only Chief to lead the NFL in receiving yards for a season?

3. Which Chief holds the record for most receiving yards in a game?

Those with 2 answers:

1. Before Patrick Mahomes, who were the only two Chiefs QB’s to win playoff games since winning Super Bowl IV?

2. Name the only 2 teams the Chiefs beat in the 2012 season?

3. Name the only 2 teams the Chiefs beat in the 2008 season?

And those with 3 answers:

1. Name the 3 Kansas City Chiefs who led the NFL in rushing yards in a single season?

2. Name the 3 Kansas City Chiefs defensive and special teams players who won games in 1995 with walk off TDs?

3. Name the 3 Kansas City Chiefs special teams players who scored TD’s in a playoff clinching win against the Steelers to put the 1986 Chiefs in the playoffs for the first time in 15 years?
