Ticket prices

Had a friend looking for Chiefs season tickets in the lower section and was quoted by the Chiefs as $4200 for a set of tickets. Her in-laws have season tickets in the same section and only pay $2300 for them. Seems like something is fishy. Anyone else heard about this?

Have the in-laws had their season tickets for a long time? I would imagine a discount for faithful fans who've purchased theirs year by year and charging more to the new season ticket holder coming in. Kind of an opposite of the way many businesses work nowadays like apartments, cell phone providers, cable providers etc.

They have. If that is the case that is fairly new deal because we had season tickets for 15 years and our prices were the same price as everyone else’s in our section when we had them.

They don't give ANY breaks to long time season ticket holders. I would pay the same as a brand new first time buyer.

We just won the Super Bowl for the first time in 50 years.

Prepare for ticket prices to skyrocket.

Yep. My dad paid $2200 for his. He called to see if there were any additional seats available near him. They said that there were seats a few sections over (but still in his same price bracket), that would be $4800 for the pair. He said he's been a season ticket member for 15 years. She said that it would be for one year and go back down next year.

I guess they're jacking up prices for first time buyers? Weird, because my boyfriend and I paid $900 for our seats last year as first time buyers, and they're $1200 this year. Looking online, if we were to purchase our sets for the first time this year, they'd be $1900.

Prices fluctuate in individual sections. Row 1 is a different price than row 30 in the same section. There's many other factors a well.

This! And, the pricing is different section to section. I’m in 122, it’s higher than 123. Plus, get closer to midfield, it’s higher again. No, they don’t charge first timers more. They charge individual game buyers more. But, not newcomers.

These tickets were in the same section but one row higher up so they should have been the same or cheaper not higher that is what is crazy. Something is up with it.

Last year, we bought our seats for $900. This year, the same seats are $1200 (understandable). Looking online, they would be $1900 if we were to buy them today. I know what's always been, but there's something different happening this year.

A friend of mine that has season tickets was given the explanation that the one year spike in prices for new buyers was to discourage people that were just going to roll and sell them on the secondary market. She also heard the same about them going back down next year.
